YOU NEED CHARACTER emerges as the Final Winner at the 2021 Metaverse Hub & DCC Global Demo Day!

You Need Character Co., Ltd. (CEO Song Min-su) participated in the ‘2021 Metaverse Hub & DCC Global Demo Day’ held on the December 8th by presenting ‘Cricket Pang’.

You Need Character Co., Ltd. is a company that plans and produces characters, animations, and educational content etc. It was founded in 2017 by Song Min-su, who started with ICONIX and is famous for ‘Pororo’. Even from the beginning of its foundation, the company has been aggressively pursuing global business, and now it is striving to create a competitive IP in the global market.

It is an animation content-based company that has entered the global market targeting the Indian market of 1.4 billion people with ‘CricketPang’ and ‘Bong Bong Guardian’ which is based on Jeju Island.

The company honored as the Final Winner during the Global Demo Day after presenting their mobile service app intended for English Education for children using CricketPang animation and CricketPang character IP.

Cricket Pang is based on Cricket, the national sport of India. In March of this year, Ajinkya Rahane, a national cricket player of India, signed a contract as a local ambassador for the app. Aside from this, a mobile service app for children’s English education targeting the Indian market was also opened in March and the establishment of an Indian corporation in Bengaluru was completed on December 1st.

Through Cricket Pang, You Need Character succeeded in attracting 2.6 billion won investment for Series A from Capital One, Woori Bank, and Midas Dong-A Investment in May this year. In August, they launched a cricket simulator (screen cricket playset). In September, Cricket Pang Season 2 was launched globally and in December, the follow-up creative animation ‘Bong bong Guardian’ was broadcasted on TV in Korea and China.

Meanwhile, the 2021 Metaverse Hub & DCC Global Demo Day was organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Hye-sook Lim). It was held to discover promising companies with great potential for overseas expansion among the companies supported by the Metaverse Hub and Digital Contents Company Growth Support Center (DC Center), a business support facility operated by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (President Chang-yong Kim) and the Next Generation Convergence Content Industry Association (Chairman Yo-cheol Choi, NCIA),
