Daegu City and Gyeongsangbuk-do to preemptively respond to heat waves and fine dust, held ‘Korea International Cooling Industry Expo 2022 (hereinafter referred to as Cooling Industry Expo)’ was held on the 6th (Wed) at the Daegu EXCO exhibition hall and outdoor exhibition hall.

This exhibition will continue until the 8th (Fri) and introduce various products, technologies, and solutions for a healthy summer from the heat wave, as well as measures to respond to the fine dust problem and climate change.

In particular, at the Cooling Industry Expo, a specialized exhibition to respond to heat waves, fine dust, and climate and environmental changes, participant can find a way to have a safe and healthy summer from the disaster-level heatwave. In addition, it is attracting attention in the field where alternatives to protect workers from heat stroke, which has been subject to the Serious Accident Punishment Act from this year.

In the Cooling Industry Expo, companies related to public cooling systems such as cooling fog, clean road, and smart shade curtains for public cooling system are participating, as well as companies related to abnormal climate change response systems. In the industrial field, there are construction materials such as heat-blocking blocks, heat-blocking paints, and water-permeable packaging materials. Air conditioning systems, and also landscaping-related products such as parasols and vertical gardens will be exhibited. In the consumer goods field, home appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and air purifiers, as well as personal cooling items such as summer bedding, ice vests, parasol, and cool arm cover, various products and technologies related to the cooling industry will be exhibited.

Because of the climate change, heat waves and a natural disaster are threatening the world. As the frequency of heat waves occurring simultaneously in Asian countries such as Korea, Japan, China, and India, as well as in the United States and Europe, has increased. This factor brought more interest in cooling industry. In this regard, there are not only exhibitions of products and technologies related to the cooling industry, but also seminars, experience events, and business exchange meetings are prepared.

In particular, to vitalize the cooling industry and generate revenue for cooling industry, ‘On-tact Export Consultation for Overseas Buyers' will be held, which is nearly three times the size of the previous year. There will be ‘Public Domestic Purchase Consultation’ for the cooling industry in Daegu and Gyeongbuk which is a one-on-one domestic consultation between companies and with purchasing managers from public institutions.

Major exhibitors include RETECH, which is exhibiting an 'electric road sweeper' that is driven by an electric motor and produces no driving noise or exhaust gas, and NextE&M, which automatically collects re-flying dust (re-blowing dust) to create a sustainable road by developing 'Green road system' technology, and Moderntec, exhibiting 'power system' that can be applied to all fields that require electricity through small urban wind power generation and ESS that stores energy.

In addition, SAMHAN C1, which produces clay bricks that responds to heat waves and creates a pleasant walking environment by easing urban heat island phenomenon in summer; AllFOG Korea, specializing in reducing heat wave and fine dust equipment, Nanum Insulation, which exhibits paints for outdoor units of air-conditioner that reduce up to 30% of energy consumption, will participate as representative companies in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do.

At this exhibition, participants also can find out more about Daegu City's 'Heat Wave Response Policy', Daegu Environment Corporation's 'Electrically driven dust-absorbing vehicle and road scattering dust reduction project', Daegu Regional Office of Meteorology’s 'Mobile meteorological observation vehicle', and Daegu Regional Environment Agency's 'Carbon Neutral Policy', which are the heat wave response policies of public institutions in the Daegu area. In addition, Korea Conformity Laboratories will introduce the 'Urban road surface temperature reduction through mixed material development project', which is being researched with support from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Daegu City, and the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology.

The Cooling Industry Expo, an exhibition specializing in response to heat waves, fine dust, climate, and environmental changes, aims to share environmental issues with citizens and revitalize the 'cooling industry' that can respond to them.

The 'Daegu International Heatwave Response Forum' (July 6-8), which was cancelled last year due to the fourth wave of COVID-19 will also be held in online and offline as the nationwide heatwave manager's workshop. In this forum, Deputy Mayor of Malmö, Sweden, Andreas Schönström, will be a keynote speaker, introducing the sustainable future city policy and major achievements of 'Malmo', which has been revived as a symbol of eco-city from a declining port city.

At the same time, there is Cooling Industry Promotion Conference (7.6) but also an event where visitors can also participate, 'Heat Wave and Carbon Neutral' Citizen's Speech Table (7.8), for general citizens to share their thoughts about heat waves, fine dust, and climate and environmental changes.

Meanwhile, Korea International Cooling Industry Expo 2022 was hosted by Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do, and was organized by EXCO and the Daegu International Heatwave Response Forum. In this exhibition, participants can meet 'cool' items in various fields such as fog spray system, roof greening, smart shade, fine dust blocking forest, heat block, cool textiles/materials such as cool vests, and seasonal home appliances such as air conditioners and circulators.
