Hosted by the Korea Packaging MachineryAssociation, PackNet, and Kyungyon Exhibition Corp., this year’s specialedition of KOREA PACK presented the solutions in the packaging processimprovement in the food and drug and cosmetics sectors and automated equipmentand eco-friendly packaging. In the era of LOGISTICS 4.0, the concurrently heldKOREA MAT displayed new technologies applied with unmanned and advanced ICTtechnologies such as autonomous robots, automated logistics systems, and coldchain logistics technologies in preparation for the increased volume of goods.

This exhibition, held with 600 exhibitors and2,000 booths, displayed the fields of food and drug, cosmetics manufacturingprocess, packaging, and logistics along with ICPI WEEK (InternationalPharmaceutical and Cosmetics Week), an exhibition of pharmaceutical, bio, andcosmetics development. Here, visitors were able to look at the entire cycle ofdevelopment, production, packaging, and distribution of a single product in oneplace.

KOREA PACK Special & ICPI WEEK 2021held at KINTEX, Ilsan, consists of seven exhibitions, KOREA PACK Special, KOREALAB, COPHEX, KOREA CHEM, KOREA PHARM & BIO, CI KOREA, and KOREA MAT in oneplace.

[KOREA MAT] Twinny, autonomous robot specialist

Twinny showcases autonomous robots TarGo and NarGo

Twinny is a company specializing inautonomous robots. Since the incorporation in 2015, Twinny currently has about90 employees, and two-thirds of the researchers have doctorate or master’sdegree from KAIST. Its flagship autonomous robots are NarGo 100, NarGo 60, andNarGo 500. And, also with TarGo 100 and TarGo 300, the object-tracking robotsthat follow people.

The company is now focusing on developingits autonomous robot platform TARP and TARAS service. TARAS is a multi-robotallocation system which provides the most optimized robot service thatautomatically finds the location and delivers goods. The robot for this serviceis the NarGo 60, a small logistics robot, and can be applied anywhere indoors,such as logistics warehouses, offices, and hospitals, where goods aretransported.

Tweeny's unique target-following robotTarGo 100 is capable of strong target tracking without a separate device. Andwith its complex target-tracking algorithm, it never misses the target. It canbe used in hospitals, logistics warehouses, airports, and anywhere where TarGois needed.

Twinny's self-driving robot NarGo 60' is afully autonomous robot that does not require infrastructure such as QR codes,beacons, and UWBs. It can secure safety through laser distance measuring sensorand ultrasonic sensor, and automatic charging station can be used. Also, it canride the elevator, and the design of the loading part can be modified.

[KOREA CHEM] Laminar

Laminar introduces Taylor reactor LCTR-Tera

Laminar is a company that manufactureschemical reactors using Taylor flow. It is developing manufacturing processesthat can be applied to various fields such as secondary batteries,pharmaceuticals, graphene oxide, food additives, and nanomaterials, andexpanding the products.

Choi Kyung-rye, Senior Researcher atLaminar, said about the exhibited products, “It is an eco-friendly reactor thatdramatically reduces production time and reduces CO2 emissions by more than 50%compared to existing products. It can be manufactured in many different sizes,and we can also provide turn-key system.” He continued, "Our technologyhas been recognized for its originality, and is patent-protected in Korea,Europe, US, and Japan.”

[KOREA LAB] Revodix

Revodix exhibits high-quality laboratory equipment like vaccine storage refrigerator

Founded in 1995, Revodix has been providingbasic laboratory equipment and solutions that can be used in the research andanalysis equipment field in Korea for 26 years. The various essentialexperimental equipment supplied by Revodix is usefully utilized in thepharmaceutical and bio fields, and is contributing to the development of theKorean basic science field.

It imports and supplies basic laboratoryequipment, such as a dryer, oven, and incubator, as well as a refrigerator andfreezer useful for storing experimental samples, and a biological safetyworkbench that protects both the researchers and the sample at the same time.(In addition, as a company that supplies all consumables for HPLC, Revodix Co.,Ltd. also provides experimental consumables to enhance the precision of theexperiment.)

(At this exhibition, Revodix Co., Ltd.showcased high-quality laboratory equipment such as dryers, incubators,thermo-hygrostats of Germany's MMM group, a sterilizer of TOMY in Japan, and arefrigerator and freezer of Fiocchetti in Italy, which are exclusively suppliedto Korea.

Especially, as COVID situation persists,the refrigerator supplied by Revodix has been certified as a medical device,allowing it to be used as a vaccine storage refrigerator. Fiocchetti’s productsare already actively used in the pharmaceutical and medical fields in Italy,and are proven equipment optimized for storage of medicines, samples andstandards.

The company staff from Revodix said,"We are providing our major products from our company overseas as aturnkey project. We supply all the experimental equipment to be used in themanufacturing plants of Korean pharmaceutical facilities to be newly built inVietnam and Myanmar, and even will validate the equipment.”

He then said, "At this exhibition, wewill exhibit equipment needed in labs so that customers can receiveprofessional technical consultations."

Cytiva Korea announces contamination-free smart cell culture technology

Cytiva, a global biotech company, providestechnologies and services that facilitate and accelerate the development andmanufacturing of therapeutics. In Korea, it has been providing comprehensiveand professional bio-processing solutions, including bio-technology analysis,production support, and bio-processing-related consulting. Its main productsinclude chromatography, filter equipment, and cell culture media required forculture and purification processes.

Cytiva Managing Director Kim Jae-hyeonintroduced the company by saying, "Starting from GE Healthcare's lifescience division, it became part of the Danaher Corporation life scienceplatform from 2020, and was newly launched under the name of Cytiva."

Cytiva Korea's Xcellerex showcased at thisexhibition is made by applying innovative single-use application technologybuilt on a unique biopharmaceutical production platform. Xcellerex can reducecosts by 50~70% compared to existing methods, and maximize facility operationthrough fast and inexpensive change-over without the risk ofcross-contamination.

Also, the cell culture system was also putforward as the main focus, but in response to this, Managing Director Kim said,"We can cultivate hygienic and safe culture by excluding the risk of harmto humans as much as possible during cell culture. Technology that can bepurified without impurities is our competitive edge.”

Young Tech Pack introduces YST-3S automatic stick-type packaging system

The three-sided automatic stick packingmachine is suitable for packing powder, sugar, coffee, cream powder, babyformula, ginseng tea, and powder soup. The strength of this product is that itis conveniently designed so that even beginners can easily operate it. Also,there is a safety cover and dust blower for the safety of workers, so theproduct can be easily cleaned in an open type.

AIR-G Virus Keeper has the advantage ofcompletely removing and deodorizing bacteria/viruses and odors that cannot beremoved with an air purifier by using low-temperature plasma light technology.It was developed to keep in fine amounts.

This product shows a different strategyfrom others. When only a UV lamp is used, it is not suitable for a place withair circulation, and a product using only a filter cannot sterilize viruses.The product using only plasma cannot remove fine dust, so it has to be usedwith air purifier. To compensate for this problem, the filter and plasma werecombined.

This online exhibition hall was designed for overseasbuyers who cannot enter Korea due to COVID pandemic and Korean SMEs havingdifficulty entering overseas. The organizer supported export channels byholding the first online export consultation at the KINTEX from May 25 to 28for Korean exhibitors and buyers that have been matched.
