[SENDEX 2011] Open Telecom ‘Freelz 318’ to Operate Wheelchair Wirelessly Using an EMG Technology

Open Telecom (www.open-telecom.com) presented ‘Freelz 318,’ an EMG wheelchair at 'The 7th Int'l Trade-fair for Senior Industry, Health, Rehabilitation and Assistive Technologies (SENDEX 2011)' held at KINTEX, Goyang in Korea on Sep. 1~3.

Freelz 318 is an electric wheelchair operated wirelessly using an electromyogram (EMG) technology which makes electric signal from the relaxation and contraction of temporal fascia generated through nipping teeth of the disabled who can’t use their arms and legs freely. When wearing headset on temple, the kinetic energy generated from temple is delivered to controller.

In addition, users can check any other miss operation of signal on display and this is useful for the disabled who can’t move their hands freely.

Meanwhile, as of 7th edition, 'SENDEX 2011' is co-hosted by Ministry of Public Administration and Security, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, Financial Services Commission and GyeongGi-Do with 200 exhibitors with 900 booths and 22,000 visitors expected.
