SBA (Seoul BusinessAgency) and Hanyang University Startup Support Group (Director Jeon Sang-kyung)announced on Oct. 6 that they had successfully completed the 2021 GlobalInvestor Meet-up Day.

As a part of the TryEverything 2021 joint cooperation program with the SBA, this program was heldto provide biz matching and networking opportunities between early-stagestartups and foreign investors (buyers) wishing to advance into overseasmarkets and attract foreign investment. It was held online for about threeweeks from Sep. 14 to 30.

In this program,▲Global IR training and 1:1 pitching coaching in connection with overseasexperts ▲Overseas investment institutions (accelerators, VCs) and buyersinvited to a startup pitching event ▲One-on-one online meet-up between foreigninvestors and startups were held, and about 20 domestic early-stage companies(seed to series A investment attraction stage) participated.

In the pitchingsession divided into two on Sep. 14, 14 startups had the chance to introducetheir products and services to more than 20 foreign investors like Seedstars,Fresco Capital, Plug and Play, ECM Medical, and HKTDC and buyers  that are corporates and  government agencies.

Overseas investors(buyers) who participated in the 1:1 online meet-up, which ran Sep. 14-30,provided realistic feedback on how to improve their overseas expansionstrategies and how to secure future investments, with some companies conductingfollow-up meetings for investment review and support for connection withoverseas buyers.

In this program,about 200 matching consultations and networking were conducted, and somecompanies that received deep interest from participating investors will receivebenefits such as follow-up meetings, investment connection, and participationin overseas accelerator programs.

Hanyang University iscontinuously operating the Global Accelerator Program as a part of the initialstartup package project for start-up companies to advance overseas, and throughthis, it identifies trends in the global market and continuously providesopportunities for overseas expansion.

Try Everything 2021,held for three days from Sep. 15 to 17 this year, is a global startup grandfestival that embodies the challenging spirit of startups with the slogan “Tryeverything without fear of failure.” Seoul has been holding this event since2019 with a goal of activating startup ecology.
