RebuilderAI (CEO Kim Jeong Hyeon) participated in SLUSH 2022, an event for startups held in Helsinki, Finland from November 17 (Thursday) to 18 (Friday).

RebuilderAI is a technology startup that allows anyone to easily and quickly create 3D models of objects or spaces around them using their mobile phones. The company has developed and advanced 3D reconstruction technology where AI builds a 3D model in real time when a 360-degree photo is taken with a mobile phone. The startup has been growing rapidly since its foundation last December, securing investment from Naver D2SF and KB Investment and being selected as one of the most promising companies for foreign investment by Invest Seoul. The company is currently in the process of developing an exclusive 3D scanning technology as well as a tool to help easily create and distribute virtual spaces, and aims to release beta services next January.

The product RebuilderAI exhibited at SLUSH 2022 is a VRIN-enabled creation tool for easy 3D modeling. The VRIN has two parts: a scan service and a space service.

The scan service uses an app-based 3D scanner to convert photos or videos taken with a mobile phone into small 3D counterparts of around 2 MB on average within 3 minutes. The number or shape of polygons in these 3D components can be changed and can be exported in various file formats, offering seamless compatibility with other 3D platforms.

The space service provides space for utilizing the scanned 3D images or videos. This tool is one of the creation tools that are recently on the rise, and lets users easily edit virtual spaces and distribute them as links, similar to Wix, a tool that helps users easily edit websites. Users can use the VRIN space service to effortlessly edit virtual spaces and use the scanned 3D models to showcase their products in the virtual space of their choice.

According to RebuilderAI, “what sets the VRIN apart is that you can scan shiny or even transparent products. Our exclusive technology precisely pinpoints the light source from multiple photos and recreates the PBR texture of objects, in addition to removing highlighted areas and detecting shiny and transparent objects.”

“It is also one-tenth as light as other existing scanners, and supports high-speed conversion. Users have two options, photos or videos, to take the image of objects or spaces on RebuilderAI. We provide these options for the user's convenience. You can use photos for higher quality projects and videos for quick, general-purpose projects,” they added.

SLUSH is a renowned Northern European global startup exhibition, first held in 2008, where startups from all around the world meet major investors in Europe and Finland. The companies participating in SLUSH 2022 took part in promoting their companies by running the K-STARTUP Pavilion, the side event “K-STARTUP Demo Day,” and networking with professional investors using a matchmaking tool.
