Korea Deep Learning Inc. announced that the company was finally selected for the ‘2022 AI Learning Data Construction Project’ and plans to construct the world’s first ink painting data.

The ‘Artificial Intelligence Learning Data Construction Project’ is a ‘data dam’ construction project that builds large-scale data for AI learning and opens it through an AI hub. The project aims to lower the barriers to entry and development of AI by companies and institutions, and it is being promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA).

Korea Deep Learning was selected for the learning data construction project in the field of ‘Data made for traditional Korean ink painting styles’ in April. By forming a consortium with Kyung Hee University, the host institution, Seoul National University, the participating institution, and Allbigdat Inc, the team will put efforts into constructing the data until the end of November.

In this field, 2,200 pieces of original ink painting data reclassified based on difficulty will be distributed to selected ink artists, and various expression techniques of ink painting can be processed into image data with experts in each special domain.

Korea Deep Learning, which was in charge of data processing and model development in this consortium, introduced AI solutions to public institutions such as the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and many large financial companies such as Shinhan Financial Group. With the experience and know-how of six AI patent applications, it is expected that the company will be able to achieve great results not only in simple data processing but also in the development of artificial intelligence models.

Kim Ji-hyeon, CEO of Deep Learning Korea, said, “Through this consortium, we plan to process various expression techniques of ink painting into data in a form that is easy for AI models to use.” She added, “The ultimate goal of this project is to navigate the direction of ink painting education by using AI technology, and to raise the awareness and understanding of traditional art.”

Meanwhile, Korea Deep Learning was recognized for its core technology 'DEEP OCR', and was selected as the 2022 KB Unicorn Club hosted by Gyeonggi CCEI and KB Kookmin Bank and is receiving an aid of customized accelerating program.
