[Pangyo Game & Contents] NEOWIZ investing in a blockchain gaming platform, ‘EPIC LEAGUE’

NEOWIZ announced that they have invested in the blockchain gaming platform, EPIC LEAGUE. For this investment, along with NEOWIZ, Netmarble, Polygon Ventures, and Ozys, a blockchain technology development company, participated as co-investors.

EPIC LEAGUEis a hub platform that connects blockchain games, communities, and clans. CEO Sung-jae Kim, who served as a technical director and producer for ‘Raven’, ‘Marvel Future Revolution’, and ‘BTS Universe Story’ at Netmarble and Line Studio, and blockchain expert, business manager Shin-hye Lee are the core member of this process. Young-hoon Baek, former COO (Chief Operating Officer) of Netmarble, and Thomas Boo, a sandbox advisor and former creative chief officer of Riot Games, are participating as advisors.

Currently, they are preparing three P&E (Play and Earn) games, and they are ‘DARK THRONE’, ‘Space Monster’, and ‘Twilight Fantasy’. The first game ‘DARK THRONE’ is about to be released globally in the third quarter. It is a ‘hack and slash’ style action RPG, and the fact that the artist Je-hyung Lee, who is currently working as a cover artist for Marvel and DC Comics, participated as an art director is gaining a lot of attention.

In a deep and dark fantasy world, you can experience the fun of hack and slash by killing various monsters with characters such as paladin, assassin, demon slayer and others. In last June, in a closed beta test (CBT) conducted for 7 days for NFT holders from 29 countries around the world, the re-visit rate on the last day was 67.8%, which proved that the game hadoutstanding gameplay.

NEOWIZ plans to seek synergies to expand the ecosystem of their blockchain game platform ‘Intella X’ through this investmen, while capturing business opportunities from various angles through continuous investment and strategic partnerships.
