Online-offline convergence of PID 2021 ends in success with $170 mil of consultation!

Preview In Daegu 2021 (PID), hosted byDaegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do and organized by Daegu GyeongbukTextile Industry Association (Chairman Cho Jung-moon), ended its three-dayjourney which began in May 12 in success despite COVID-19.

Based on thorough quarantine and governmentguidelines, 194 Korean and foreign companies (169 Korean, 25 overseas)participated, and over 14,600 visitors (8,234 visitors, 6,338 online) visitedthe fair for three days. It recorded a tremendous amount of $170 million incounseling.

With the slogan “PID will continue” and“Refresh to a sustainable future/Refresh” as the main themes, this year’s PIDpresented online-offline convergence exhibition marketing with onlineconsultation, 3D virtual exhibition halls, and online business days despitedifficult situations in Korean and foreign markets and industrial environments.The show ended with a hope for new attempts in global exhibition marketing torespond to post-COVID and challenge for solving new problems.

Especially, in this exhibition, a PIDmaterial showroom was installed in Dalian, China, and the online videoconference was conducted by connecting with EXCO exhibition hall in real time.Thirty Korean companies met 15 major Chinese buyers for export consultations.Also, video conferences were held with 20 overseas buyers in the US, India,Asia, and the Middle East, achieving export consultation of about $6.85million, and it provided opportunities for local small and medium-sized textilecompanies to expand online marketing.

The PID Secretariat operates an online showroom of exhibitors who are highly responsive to Korean and foreign buyers at this exhibition and operates a support and management system throughout the year after the event through continuous product upload and promotion. Considering the characteristics of textile material marketing, which takes a certain period of time to lead to results, the organizer plans to provide intensive support for business follow-up management over the next two months.

This exhibition reflects the rapidlychanging domestic and foreign textile market and consumer demand trend changesdespite the difficulties of COVID-19, and presents a variety of new materialsand convergence technology products related to health, safety, and eco-friendlyfields, and attracted a lot of attention from buyers.

Hyosung TNC, which is currently leading theglobal eco-friendly trend, reinforced win-win partnerships with its partners(17 companies), and exhibited products in collaboration with North Face and theathleisure brand XEXYMIX, and promoted products in 3D virtual exhibition halls.All this was presented to overseas buyers through video and received goodresponses.

In addition, major participating companiessuch as Keonbaek and One Chang Material received attention for introducingeco-friendly textile products made by recycling waste PET bottles andby-products, reflecting the trends of recycling and sustainability, which arethe current textile market trends. Consultation is underway to use recycledfillers produced by dry bag to the company's vegan padding apparel products.

Reflecting the interest in health andsafety and the rapidly increasing market demand due to COVID-19, GyeongbukTechnopark formed the K-quarantine Gyeongbuk, Health & Safety TextileProduct Center (24 companies) to introduce masks, protective clothing, andsurgical clothing, bedding, interior and exterior materials for automobiles.

PID Organizing Committee Chairman JoJung-moon (DGTIA) said, "We will respond to the rapidly changing globalmarket through this exhibition held by gathering all the strength from theKorean textile industries despite the COVID-19 situation. We will prepare to holdPID as an international specialized textile exhibition in 2022, by expandingthe exhibition contents to eco-friendly recycling textile areas and integratingIT technology.”

On the other hand, Preview In Daegu LIVE conducted live broadcasting in real-time for companies participating in PID 2021.

In this live broadcast, the company'sflagship products were introduced in Korean and English by the broadcaster AlexSigrist. After the exhibition, the edited video content will be produced foreach exhibitor and posted on the exhibition's official YouTube channel, helpingexhibitors to utilize it.
