[KORMARINE 2015] Nexans Korea Unveils Offshore Cables for Ships

Nexans Kukdong (CEO Kang In-gu, www.cablekukdong.co.kr) unveiled its offshore cables for ships at “KORMARINE 2015”, which runs for four days from Tuesday the 20th to Friday the 23rd at BEXCO.Currently, Nexans Korea has sales offices in Seoul, Busan, and Gwangju; the Cheongwon factory, which manufactures cables for cars, communication, and electricity; and the Eumseong factory, which produces specialized cables for buildings. In 2014, the company recorded 275 billion won in sales. Power cables account for 73%, and car cables and communication cables 25% and 2%, respectively. The company is putting effort into developing flame retardants, fire resistant products, and less-toxic power cables in cooperation with a French product research institute. It is continuously investing in research and development of next-generation superconducting cables in concert with related organizations.Nexans’ cables are used in almost every field, such as power transmission and distribution for land and ocean floors; energy resources (oil, gas, mines, and renewable energy); land, maritime, air, and railroad transportation; commercial and residential buildings; and data centers.Nexans is the world’s No.1 company in the ship and offshore structure cable field. Held biennially since 1978, KORMARINE is an exhibition that focuses on shipbuilding, marine, oil, and gas industries. Taking place at BEXCO in Busan, it is a representative event of the domestic shipbuilding industry. There are 15 halls for the participating countries, and 1,200 companies are running 2,220 booths.
