Korea’s energy show SWEET 2021 held at Kimdaejung Convention Center on July 8

The international renewable energy showSWEET 2021 (Solar, Wind & Earth Energy Trade Fair 2021) was held on July 8at Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju. It is the largest ever since thefirst show.

This show is co-hosted by GwangjuMetropolitan City and Jeollanam-do and co-organized by Kimdaejung ConventionCenter, KOTRA, and Korea Energy Agency. It will be held for three days fromJuly 8 to 10, and 247 companies from 21 countries will participate. Also,future energy technologies such as offshore wind power, floating solar power,ESS, hydrogen fuel cell, and smart grid will be demonstrated to lead the GreenNew Deal.

Amid the prolonged COVID-19, SWEET 2021will be held as a hybrid exhibition that combines online and offline. Onlinesupport has been strengthened by using real-time YouTube interviews withparticipating companies during the conference and exhibition period, andproduction of promotional videos for companies using K-Studio.

The exhibitor KEPCO is contributing greatlyto the vitalization of the local energy industry in various fields such ascorporate technology transfer, R&D, and manpower training for collaborationprojects linked with public institutions that have moved to Innovation City andKENTECH (Korea Institute of Energy Technology) which is to open March nextyear. Here in the show, KEPCO set up Shared Growth Pavilion made up of 40partners and energy valley contracting companies in distribution, smart grid,and energy valley.

Six power companies including Korea MidlandPower set up the Korea Power Industry Pavilion, which consists of 73 small andmedium-sized companies with power generation facilities and new and renewableenergy, to stimulate shared growth of energy SMEs. Also, Korea Gas Corporationshowcased gas technologies like natural gas of excellent Korean small andmedium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by setting up Korea Gas Corporation SharedGrowth Pavilion.

Many major new and renewable energycompanies like Unison, BA Energy, Shinsung E&G, SCOTRA, and PARU areparticipating in the show.

Unison is a wind power generation companythat exhibits a variety of product lineups from rated output of 2 MW to 4.3 MW,and SCOTRA is a floating system company that shows offshore solar modules andsystem technology applicable in offshore environments.

BA Energy will exhibit ESS 4.0, its owndeveloped energy safety management system SMS at this exhibition. It hascompetitiveness that can be applied not only to ESS for new and renewableenergy and also to various ESSs for electric vehicle charging stations andmicrogrids.

In this exhibition, export and purchaseconsultations were strengthened to provide business support for SMEs that arehaving difficulties in developing markets due to COVID-19.

The overseas export conference in which 21 countriesincluding India, Egypt, and Mexico participate, is jointly hosted by KOTRA andwill be held for two weeks, including the exhibition period. Organized byGwangju/Jeonnam Regional MSS, 1:1 export consulting will be offered for thecompanies that want to receive support.

Also, the Innovative Growth Tour hosted bythe Shared Growth Committee will be held concurrently. It is expected tostrengthen the competitiveness of Korean SMEs and lay the foundation for theGreen New Deal industry in the region through 1:1 purchase consultationsbetween 86 companies in charge of technology and purchasing of largecorporations and public institutions like Samsung and POSCO, and SMEs.

In addition, the Global PhotovoltaicConference (GPVC 2021) hosted by the Korea Photovoltaic Society will beattended by many solar power scholars and experts. At the same time, 14 sessionin various topics of Carbon Neutral Era, Policy Forum for SustainableManagement of Photovoltaic Power Generation, and Power Industry PhotovoltaicConvergence Forum will be held. Also, programs for college students and localresidents like Renewable Energy Use Science and Technology Contest and Seminarfor Citizens to Prepare the Foundation for Energy Conversion will be prepared.

SWEET 2021 presents a new industrial modelof the Korean Green New Deal. It has obtained UFI certification for the firsttime in a similar exhibition in Korea, and has been selected as a promisingexhibition by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for 10 years and isevaluated as a major new and renewable energy exhibition in Korea.

SWEET 2021, celebrating its 15thanniversary this year, provides the largest business opportunity and networkformation of new and renewable energy companies in Gwangju, the center ofEnergy Valley.
