'Korea Boat Show' Explores the Capital of Asian Yacht Building Country: Taiwan

Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) signed cooperation agreement with Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) on January 23, 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan. This actual action agreement was followed by MOU signed on December 2017 between Mr. Chang Yuel Lim, President of KINTEX, Mr. Howard Gung, president of Monte Fino & chairman of Taiwan Yacht Industry Association (TYIA) and Walter M.S.Yeh, president of TAITRA.

Mutual support for the new challenge - According to the agreement, Korea Boat Show(KIBS) secretariat from KINTEX is responsible to assemble renowned Korean marine leisure corporates and firstly introduce at Taiwan International Boat Show (TIBS) which will be held in March 15 - 18, 2018. TAITRA promised to support KIBS to organize Korean pavilion efficiently. And KIBS will provide the equivalent support to Taiwanese pavilion at its show. Mr. Danny Lim, the director of KIBS secretariat, said he believed the cooperation would allow Korean and Taiwanese marine corporate to obtain higher results in paving a way for new opportunities of cooperation in Asian leisure marine industry.

Internationalization of KIBS - KIBS' Korean pavilion business was initiated in 2013 at Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS), Amsterdam. Within 5 years, it showed over 180% of development rate. With accumulated years of experience and remarkable success, in 2017, it decided to go further to International Boat builders' Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) in Florida. In 2018, aiming to nurture boat and yacht industry even more, KIBS extends its business to Taiwan International Boat Show (TIBS).

Rapid growth in Korean marine industry - Korean pavilion has been continuously received great welcome. Its betterment is based on the gradually created boating culture in Korea. The number of boat users is increased up to 185,129 in 2016. Among them, around 10% issued boat driver's license and 15% registered leisure boats. The number is expected to grow more in coming year.

Above and beyond the world class - With increased public demand and rapid industrial growth, KIBS, ranking the top 3 boat shows in Asia along with Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) and China (Shanghai) International Boat Show (CIBS), is prospected to meet its mature year in 2018. The 11th Korea International Boat Show, hosted by Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Gyeonggi Province and organized by KINTEX, will be held in Greater Seoul, Korea on May 24 -27, 2018.
