'The 20^th International Photonics Convergence Industry Exhibition and Conference', the largest photonic convergence industry exhibition in Korea, was held on the 23^rd (Wed) at the Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju City.

Korea’s largest photonic convergence industry-specialized exhibition is celebrating its 20^th anniversary this year.  In the era of the 4^th industrial revolution, products of innovative companies in the 8 major domestic photonic convergence fields that are being used in various field of our daily life such as AI, energy, smart home, and autonomous vehicles were presented.

This exhibition, which runs until the 24^th (Thur), is made of corporate exhibition booths, publicity hall for photonic research institutes and business performance, and a photonic medical experience hall. A total of 150 companies and organizations, including LG Innotek, Kumho Electric and other participated and the event was held with about 250 booths.
 
Major exhibited products include PLC splitters and optical power meters, and in optical lighting field, shock monitoring street light distribution boxes with impact monitoring technology using sensors and bloodless diagnostic devices in the optical medical bio field and micro Si optical scanners in the photonic precision field.

A variety of products were exhibited such as the multi-wavelength LED light source and optical sensor for the photonic material part field, the LED transparent display and DDBOX for the optical display information field, the data monitoring system for emergency situations and safety accident preparation for the optical imaging information field, and the solar power with supercapacitor storage for the photonic energy product field.

In addition, there were publicity halls for variety of fields including the global distribution support project of photonic convergence products to promote domestic pilot installation projects, an Medical Photonic Industry Cooperative hall where visitors can experience thermal treatment devices and scalp care, LIDAR convergence industry hall commercialization support project result publicity hall, and finally, an employment safety preemptive response package support project publicity hall where various experiences such as employment consulting and oil therapy can be experienced.

The marketing center from the association and companies invited about 100 buyers from 17 countries to hold an export consultation meeting. These meetings are expected to give opportunities for companies to escape struggles with the export economy stagnation. For buyers who are unable to visit during this exhibition, consultation is conducted through the ‘non-face-to-face Online Consultation General Situation Room’.

At the conference events, the 12^th Photonic Medical Health Symposium, PLC·LIDAR technology exchange seminar, and MEMS-based industrial technology exchange were held during the exhibition period to report the latest technology and market trends.

At the same time, they will also take the lead in job creation. They also provided on-site interviews and employment consulting by operating a job recruitment promotion center customized to the region and industry.

During the exhibition, real-time online YouTube (B2B) and marketing support are provided for about 30 companies. Interviews and promotions in both English and Korean was aired live in real time, and videos for each company was produced separately to continuously promote through YouTube and exhibition channels.

Cheol-dong Jeong, chairman of the Korea Association for Photonics Industry Development, said, “Through the global economic recession, about 100 buyers from 17 countries and Korean companies will open a global marketing arena through this exhibition, enabling the photonic convergence industry to become a national core industry. This will create an opportunity for companies to advance into the global market.”

Meanwhile, the 20^th International Photonics Convergence Industry Exhibition and Conference (Photonics Korea 2022) is an exhibition specializing in new products and technologies of photonic convergence that are utilized in various industries such as semiconductors, AI, energy, and automobiles in accordance with the 4^th industrial revolution and digital transformation. It was co-hosted and supervised by Gwangju Metropolitan City and Korea Association for Photonics Industry Development. A special pavilion was opened to see the past, present, and future of the photonic convergence industry and give an opportunity to look back on the history of the local industry and look into the future of the industry. In addition, 6G optical communication technology trends and medical healthcare device development strategies to discover future growth engines were presented. Conferences and job fairs for job matching customed to the local industry were also held.
