Kia Motors has unveiled its brand-new premium crossover concept car "Cross GT" at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show held at McCormick Place in Chicago from February 9.
The "Cross GT" is a luxury crossover utility vehicle based on inspirations gained from the nature. The model features an elegant and dynamic design and hybrid powertrain system.
Peter Schreyer, global chief of design for Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors, said, "The launch of the GT in 2011 led the future direction for Kia car designs to pursue. As the Concept GT was well received, I am sure the brand-new Cross GT will be successfully ranked as one of the best luxury crossover utility vehicles."
Reflecting Kia Motors' design philosophy of "Simplicity of the Line," the external look of the Cross GT features a linear-style head lamp, a family-look large radiator grille, a side door that opens 180 degrees wide, and a hexagonal glass plate that is applied for the ceiling of the vehicle.
The Cross GT has a length of 4,897 mm, a width of 2,009 mm, and a height of 1,659 mm. With a hybrid system, the Cross GT has a maximum output of 400 hp and a maximum torque of 69.1 kg.m. It is also primed with an 8-speed automatic transmission and an electronic control drive system.
