The first Liquor Table Competition will be held at Jarasum.The Liquor Table Competition is a special event held during JARASUM MAKGEOLLI FESTIVAL, which will begin on Thursday, Oct. 29 at Jarasum in Gapyeong. In the competition, foods that go well with traditional liquors will be selected. The Organizing Committee for the Liquor Table Competition (chairperson Ryu In-su) has announced five designated liquors (Gapyeong Pine Nut Makgeolli, Moonbaeju, Maesilwonju, Gwahaju Soola, Woopo’s Morning) for the event.People can visit the website (www.suldoc.com) and apply for the competition. They have to choose one of five designated liquors and set the most harmonious table for the chosen liquor. Applicants who advance to the final competition will compete for a cash prize of 10 million won. There will be golden prizes for each liquor, and there is the Gapyeong-gun Award for the high scorer and the Rural Development Administration Award for the highest scorer.Ryu In-su, chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the Liquor Table Competition, said: “Foods can perfect the taste of liquors. Japanese sake, French wine, and German beer were able to become famous as they were exported with foods that match the liquors. We arranged the competition with the hope that we will find the most suitable foods for our liquors.
