INFINIQ Receives Two CES 2022 Innovation Awards for Artificial Intelligence Retail Solution "AI Counter"

INFINIQ Co., Ltd., (Joint CEOs Sung-woon Noh, Joon-hyung Park) a company specializing in autonomous driving solutions, announced that it received the CES 2022 Innovation Award for its artificial intelligence retail solution "AI Counter."

Hosted by The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), it selects the most innovative new products in the consumer electronics sector at CES, the world's largest consumer electronics exhibition, and awards the Innovation Award after strict screening by an expert group every year. It comprehensively evaluates technology, design, innovation, and user convenience, and this time, it announced 27 award-winning works. INFINIQ's AI Counter was selected as the winner in two categories: Software & Mobile Apps and Smart Cities.

The AI Counter is a product calculation solution optimized for next-generation retail stores. Currently, a common calculation method in the retail industry is to recognize barcodes attached to products, but products that cannot be attached with barcodes cannot be sold, and there was an inconvenience of having to recognize barcodes of individual products one by one. AI Counter is applied with artificial intelligence computer vision convergence technology 'HEX VISION', which consists of facial recognition, behavior recognition, and object recognition technology, to recognize and calculate the product image itself captured by the built-in camera. It is possible to sell products that do not have barcodes or have irregular shapes, enabling qualitative and quantitative expansion of distribution product lines.

AI Counter can quickly process multiple products at the same time, and there is no need for humans to recognize the products one by one because it is automatically calculated as it moves by simply placing the items on the conveyor belt. It can be effectively applied to all new stores, such as 24-hour stores, unmanned stores, and self-checkout counters, which have recently been in increasing demand, and can be added without changing the existing store infrastructure for reasonable operation.

INFINIQ opened the first store of its AI store "MEALY" in mid-November last year. Along with the AI Counter, MEALY applied all of HEX VISION's representative technologies such as behavior recognition and facial recognition. After opening its first store, INFINIQ will continue to expand its stores and promote collaboration with major retailers. It is meeting with global retailers such as Europe and North America through CES 2022 and is currently expanding its business in various forms by selling individual solutions from HEX VISION such as object recognition, behavior recognition, and facial recognition.

Sung-woon Noh, CEO of INFINIQ, said, "Through this CES 2022 Innovation Award, AI Counter has been recognized as a global innovation product." "I think the technology of artificial intelligence solutions accumulated and high-quality ultra-large data have been achieved, and we will continue to innovate in various fields by applying HEX VISION," he said.

Meanwhile, INFINIQ participated in "CES 2022" and is introducing "MEALY," which is applied with the innovation award winner "AI Counter," and artificial intelligence data services and platforms including autonomous driving solutions.

At CES 2022, which was held online and offline for the first time in two years, the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Lim Hye-sook, hereinafter referred to as "Minister of Science and ICT") and six companies (INFINIC, AI-PET, Our Lab, Amo, MJVision Tech) participated.

The artificial intelligence learning data construction project organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT and promoted by the Korea Intelligence Information Society Promotion Agency will be opened through AI-Hub by building a total of 1,300 types of data by 2025. The project is becoming a driving force for the growth of small and medium-sized artificial intelligence companies, venture companies, and startups in Korea by solving the difficulty of building high-cost and long-term data. 191 types of artificial intelligence learning data opened on AI-Hub can be easily downloaded by anyone on the AI-Hub website.
