[IFA 2015 EDITOR’S CHOICE TOP 100] Wacom’s Smart Folio ‘Bamboo Spark’

Wacom showcased the smart folio “Bamboo Spark”, a mixture of analogue ballpoint pen and digital ink technology, at IFA 2015, which runs Sep. 4-9 at Berlin.

The “Bamboo Spark” is for handwritten notes, as it combines an analogue ballpoint pen and digital ink technology. It is a new conceptual smart notepad, enabling users to take notes by hand and save their text in digital files. The notes can be edited even after being saved.

“Bamboo Spark" is the fruit of Wacom’s key digital inking technology. It is a combination of a smart ballpoint pen and smart folio EMR. When notes are written on paper with a ballpoint pen, the product saves them in digital files.

Users can write or sketch what they want with the special pen on paper with maximum A5 size (48 x 210 mm, 5.83 x 8.27 inches).

The app can be downloaded on Android and iOS-based devices that support Bluetooth smart technology. Users can send their notes to the Bamboo Spark app, Bamboo Paper, Evernote, and Dropbox. They can also edit the notes.

“Bamboo Spark” comes in three types: the gadget pocket for smartphones and business cards, the table sleeve for tablets of maximum size 9.7 inches, and the snap-fit for iPad Air2. The price is 209,000 won.

In its 56th year, IFA is one of the top trade shows for appliances and multimedia devices presented by 1,400 exhibitors from 50 countries and visited by 240,000 people from all over the world. The main products for this year are smart home products equipped with IoT technology, wearable devices, health tech devices, and ultra-resolution TVs.
