GMV 2015 Seeks International Expansion of Leading Domestic Mobile Companies through Exports, Overseas Growth, and Start-up Programs

The representative domestic mobile event “Global Mobile Vision 2015” (GMV 2015) will take place for three days starting from Sept. 16 at KINTEX in Ilsan.

The 8th GMV is an exhibition with conferences that are organized by KOTRA and KINTEX. It is the largest exhibition in the country, as 250 domestic companies from the ICT field, including IoT, big data, security, FinTech, communication, and mobile app businesses, will participate. Also, buyers from 250 companies from 61 countries are invited.

Through the conference, domestic companies have an opportunity to introduce Korea’s ICT technologies and solutions to global buyers, and provide their products to international firms.

At GMV 2015, there will be executive buyers from famous global companies, including Microsoft, Sprint, Best Buy, and GE Healthcare from the U.S.; Baidu from China; NTT, Fujitsu, Toyota, and NEC from Japan; British Telecom from England; Telefonica from Spain; Ericsson from Sweden; Vinaphone from Vietnam; BENQ from Taiwan; Turkcell from Turkey; T-mobile from Czech Republic; and Megafo from Russia. Furthermore, a conference with those firms and Korean ICT companies is scheduled to be held.

In addition, there will be a special program for start-ups, which will give them an opportunity to enter the global market and attract venture capital. Also, a conference with representative domestic venture companies, including Coupang, Socar, and Loc & Lock, will be held under the theme of “Mobile-Based Sharing Economy”.

In order to support start-ups that are affiliated with the development of regional special industries, companies that are part of Creative Economy & Innovation Centers in 17 areas of the nation will be present at the special exhibition hall for start-ups. This will provide an opportunity to promote their companies.

Moreover, the exhibition will encourage domestic mobile companies to expand their businesses abroad through various additional events and services, such as the GMV Conference and the IT Export Counseling Support Center.

Since 2008, GMV has been establishing its position as the largest mobile exhibition in the country. In 2014, 175 buyers participated in the exhibition, and 1,349 export consultations worth $2.1 million were held. This year, export consultations and technical and investment cooperation are expected to exceed $400 million.
