EndoRobotics (CEO Daehie Hong, Byunggon Kim) is set to attend COMEUP 2022, which will be held for 3 days between November 9 (Wed) and 11 (Fri) at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul and introduce ‘RoSE Platform’, their compatible flexible surgical robot.

‘RoSE Platform’ is a surgical robot that is compatible with, and used by attaching to, diagnostic endoscope systems that are already adopted in medical centers around the world. Once they are easily attached to existing endoscopes, they are transformed into a surgical endoscope equipped with a 4-DOF robotic arm.

One of its defining characteristics is that it can keep the big advantage of endoscopes that no incisions need to be made on the patient’s abdomen, but can be used in clinical applications without great cost or long training periods on major treatments that were previously difficult, like endoscopic cancer surgery, perforated sutures, and gastric reduction.

If laparoscopic invasive surgeries can be switched to non-invasive endoscopic surgeries through the use of the ‘RoSE Platform’, it can be done under sedation rather than general anesthesia, reduces the period of hospitalization from 14 days to 3 days, and leaves no incision scars, which would have the effect of reducing treatment costs to 1/3.

In addition, the reduction of the hospitalization period means that the turnover rate of hospital beds will be greatly improved and have the effect of increasing hospital profits, which a spokesman explained was the reason of it currently drawing a lot attention globally.

They are currently in the process of being licensed for sale in Korea and overseas and are scheduled to receive certifications for KFDA in early 2023, and FDA in late 2023. They were recently chosen for the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s international collaboration research project, and are conducting collaborative research and local clinical application tests in the US with the Stanford University School of Medicine, who has shown a lot of interest in the technology and product of EndoRobotics.

A spokesman of EndoRobotics explained that, “The high adoption costs and operation costs commonly associated with ‘surgical robots’ are largely mitigated with the fee and revenue models of our robots. All we have left to do now is expanding to the global market.”

Having its 4th iteration this year, ‘COMEUP 2022’ is hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Young Lee) and is overseen by the Korea Startup Forum (Chairman Jaewook Park). Innovative startups, investors, and startup related people from Korea and over 15 countries are scheduled to attend, and starting from this year in particular, COMEUP will be rebranded into a startup-centered, private sector led event from the existing government-private collaboration that it was before and begin its journey to become one of the 5 big startup events in the world. With the slogan of ‘WE MOVE THE WORLD’, the event will be conducted both on and offline, and will have various programs like Academic Conferences (Conference), Open Innovation Strategy of Global Companies (Open Innovation), COMEUP Stars Company Introduction (IR) and Booth Exhibitions, and Business Matching (Biz Matching).
