DAIM Research, Presents Various Solutions for Swarm Robot Control · Management at COMEUP 2022

Daim Research Co., Ltd. (CEO Young-jae Jang) participated and presented various solutions for swarm robot control and management at the COMEUP 2022 held at Seoul Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) from November 9th(Wed.) to the 11th(Fri.) for three days.

Daim Research attracted 12 billion KRW in investment within 2 years of its establishment as a KAIST spin-off research institute company in 2020, proving its technological prowess through global companies in Korea and major VCs. It provides AI, digital twin, next generation automated material handling robot system control software that integrated cloud technology and has completed verification of Daim’s technology by applying it to global companies in Korea as of today.

Main solution includes swarm robot control/management control solution based on collaborative intelligence, and this can be applied to not only high-tech manufacturing industry, such as semiconductors, secondary batteries, cars, flat panel displays etc., but also traditional industry logistics automation such as mobile phones and machines/electrical parts.

Daim Research’s software is a software platform that innovates the entire life cycle of designing the system for large-scale swarm robots for material handling on the manufacturing site, site construction, and management.

Daim’s xMS (x-management system, x means various robot types) is a solution for real-time control of large-scale swarm robots. Daim Research’s collaborative intelligence algorithm that combines deep learning inference and reinforcement learning, optimally performs work assignment and real-time path planning for all the transportation robots. In this way, it relieves inconveniences such as the traffic due to interferences between robots, and it can achieve the highest management efficiency with the least hardware investment cost.

The AI algorithm-installed core server can quickly and flexibly build solutions, despite changes in the robot type that needs to be controlled or if the higher system is changed, through standardization/modularization design. Additionally for customers on-site, it provides robot monitoring and controllable environment through web browsers, so it’s competitive in terms of installation and operation convenience.

The core AI algorithm has been widely recognized in domestic and overseas academia and industries, in ways such as patent registration (registration number: 1024046950000), two publications published in SCI-level international journals, and receiving invitation to numerous international conferences.

Daim’s xDT is a Digital Twin Simulator that can review the expected high management rate of when the xMS is built, in advance to the designing stage. It uses Unity engine to virtually replicate the transportation swarm robot infrastructure and enables various manufacturing logistics environment simulation.

Through the highly accurate KPI calculated from this, it supports system investment decisions of clients and minimizes the possible risks during the continuous xMS design and construction. Moreover, Daim is developing the LAY (layout analyzer), which is an automation tool for the logistics robot system layout construction/analysis and the AID (AI-Diagnostics, which is a diagnostic tool for AI-based logistics robot malfunction. Daim Research is the only company functioning as a steppingstone for the manufacturing logistics industry’s transportation robot software platform.

Having its 4th iteration this year, ‘COMEUP 2022’ was hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Young Lee) and organized by the Korea Startup Forum (Chairman Jaewook Park). Startups, investors, and people related to startups from over 15 countries attended, and this year in particular was the start of COMEUP’s rebranding from the previous government-private collaboration to the private-led event that it is now, as it aims to become a global Top 5 startup event. With the slogan of ‘WE MOVE THE WORLD’, the event was conducted both on and offline, and had various programs like Academic Conferences (Conference), Open Innovation Strategy of Global Companies (Open Innovation), COMEUP Stars Company Introduction (IR) and Booth Exhibitions, and Business Matching (Biz Matching).
