The 2nd Coast Guard Safety & Equipment Show 2015 (CGS 2015 for short) opened on June 17 at Songdo ConvensiA.

The opening ceremony kicked off with a speech by Lee Seong-ho, the Vice Minister of Public Safety and Security. That was followed by a welcoming speech by Yoo Jeong-bok, the Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City.

There were also congratulatory addresses by Park Nam-chun, a member of the New Politics Alliance for Democracy, and Noh Gyung-su, chairperson of the Incheon Metropolitan Council. The event was capped off by a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In order to develop the marine industry through public/private cooperation, CGS 2015 was hosted by the Ministry of Public Safety and Security and Incheon Metropolitan City. It was organized by the Incheon Development & Tourism Corporation, under the theme of "New Business on the Sea.”

Domestic defense industry shipyards and marine equipment enterprises, including Hyundai Heavy Industries, took part in the event. Furthermore, many associations and organizations from various sectors, such as the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, the Korea Ship Safety Technology Authority, the Maritime Rescue & Salvage Association of Korea, and Korea Maritime and Ocean University, participated in the exhibition.

The exhibition’s booths had six themes: Shipbuilding, Voyage and Communication Equipment, Aviation, Safety and Leisure, Special Equipment, and Marine Environment Prevention. Also taking part were the Industry-University Cooperation Booth and the Incheon Local Business Promotion Booth.

Moreover, equipment buyers of maritime security institutes from foreign countries were invited, and one-on-one export counseling and consultations with domestic companies were actively held.

In addition, a variety of events were held for citizens and teenagers to promote maritime security culture. They included maritime pollution prevention, search and rescue, marine photo exhibit, and a lifejacket-wearing campaign. There were also conferences related to maritime safety.
