CMES(CEO Seong-ho Lee) will participate in 'KOREA PACK Special & ICPI WEEK 2021' held at KINTEX, Goyang from May 25 (Tue) to 28 (Fri) and showcase AI robot solutions.

CMES is an AI robot solution developer established in 2014. It has its own technology for each area of AI, 3D vision, and robot control and develops various robot guidance solutions and applications based on the technology integrating the three. Recognizedby top global companies in various manufacturing fields at home and abroad, CMES is currently applied to mass production lines and is building solid partnerships and recognition. Interest in and demand for robot automation are increasing due to the rising burden of labor cost, by the manufacturing companies of advanced countries, as the reshoring phenomenon that has been on the rise since 2018 has accelerated due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A CMES official said, "By having 3D vision and AI technologies, the robot will be able to handle various unstructured objects and successfully perform various tasks directed by the robot engineer. We have developed robot solutions to implement advanced robotic process automation.

Among the major products (solutions), Random Depalletization has 3D vision and AI functions which accurately recognize boxes of various shapes so the robot can transport them to the correct location. In addition, the 3D vision of Void Fill Solution allows can accurately measure the empty space in the box containing the product, allowing an appropriate amount of cushioning material to be injected.

In the loading/unloading application, 3D vision allows the robot to accurately recognize atypical pallets so that it can accurately load or unload heavy automobile parts at a predetermined location. Robot 3D Guidance is a robotic guidance application such as the dispensing, painting, welding, etc. of objects with shape or position change, as well asa bonding guidance application for high-precision bonding.

In addition to this, CMES has developed a simulator called EQUAL to help relieve robotic engineers’ burden of teaching robots over months and to avoid the trouble of maintenance and repair after process setup. EQUAL enhances the convenience of process setting, greatly reduces the setting time, and enables constant monitoring during operation thereby improving operational efficiency.

A CMES official said, "We hope to establish relationships as a business partner or a buyer with system integrators, robot manufacturers, and companies in the logistics/automobile/shoes/steel/electronic manufacturing sectors in markets such as Germany and France in Europe as well as the United States, so we can expand to overseas markets.

Meanwhile, before the opening of 2021 Korea Pack, an online exhibition service to meet exhibitors was unveiled on the 17th (Mon.). This online exhibition hall is designed for overseas buyers, who are facing difficulties in entering the Korean market due to the prolonged COVID-19, as well as domestic SMEs who are struggling with overseas expansion. Targeting domestic exhibitors and overseas buyers matched through the online exhibition service, 2021 Korea Pack will support export channels by holding the first video-based export consultation meetings at KINTEX from the 25th to the 28th.
