Busan opens up '2021 Busan International Shipbuilding Marine Week (KORMARINE)'... 700 companies and 1500 booths scale!

Busan (Mayor Hyungjoon Park) co-hosted ‘2021 Busan International Shipbuilding Marine Week (KORMARINE, MARINE WEEK 2021)’ with Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Korea Marine Equipment Association and Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding Association to create a place where people can see at a glance the status of the city as the center of the global shipbuilding and offshore industry and the development of cutting-edge equipment and new technologies in the domestic and overseas shipbuilding and offshore plant industries on October 19th at Haeundae BEXCO.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition will be held on Tuesday, October 19th at 10 am in the square in front of BEXCO Exhibition Center 1 in the presence of 300 citizens, including Yunil Kim, Vice Mayor for Economic Affairs of Busan and celebrities and public figures. To comply with COVID-19 quarantine regulation, detailed admission procedures such as wearing a mask, body temperature check, hand sterilizer and body sterilizer are prepared for all visitors, and at the same time, they are preventing eating and drinking in the event venue, regular ventilate through maximum operation of the air conditioner, and conduct daily quarantine inside and outside the event venue.


Busan International Shipbuilding Marine Week (MARINE WEEK) exhibition, which has been held every two years since 2001, in odd-numbered years. In order to solve problems caused by overlapping schedules, ▲ International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX) ▲ International Ports, Logistics & Environmental Technology Exhibition (SEA-PORT) was held in spring(June) from this year to avoid schedule conflict with ADEX(Air force Event), ▲International Marine, Shipbuilding, Offshore, Oil & Gas Exhibition (KORMARINE) will be held in autumn(October). So far, there has been positive feedbacks from participating companies from MADEX and SEA-PORT exhibition, and they are also expecting a good result from KORMARINE exhibition as global exhibition.

This event, which marks its 11th anniversary this year, is an exhibition held with 1,500 booths from 700 companies from 30 countries despite the cancellation or postponement of related exhibitions overseas due to the COVID-19 outbreak, and domestic companies such as Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Korea Gas Corporation, S&SYS, BIP and global companies such as ABB, Emerson, KONGSBERG, WARTSILA, and WinGD will participate in this event including a large number of joint pavilions from 10 countries from Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, UK, Austria and more to exhibit products such as shipbuilding technology, equipment, and marine equipment.

In addition, during the exhibition period, various events such as 'KORMARINE Conference', 'Technical Seminar', 'Shipbuilding & Offshore Equipment Industry Seminar', and 'Marine Engineering Society' will be held to introduce new technologies and suggest future technology development directions to overcome difficulties due to the recent recession from the support from government, academia, and research. City of Busan plans to support overseas marketing of companies through non-face-to-face online export consultations due to COVID-19.


In addition, the KORMARINE online exhibition, which is held as part of the hybrid exhibition to improve the limited business consultation environment due to the pandemic, has been held since September 16 and is being used as a new export route for domestic manufacturers.

Changho Shin, director of the Future Industry Bureau of Busan Metropolitan City, said, "Despite the recession in the shipbuilding industry, I think that the reason that many companies participated in the exhibition is their will to overcome the recession. The city of Busan will do its best to support businesses so that they can overcome the recession at an early stage.”
