Automotive Week 2016 Ends in Harmony

Automotive Week 2016, Korea's auto parts and aftermarket trade show held in KINTEX, ended on Sep. 4 after three days of festivity.

In its 10th, the show this time successfully placed itself as Korea's largest service trade show that displays the present and future of automobile industry.

Choi Jung-ho, Vice Minister of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, had said the following at the opening ceremony: Automotive Week has contributed greatly to the development and stimulation of aftermarket. For the development of car industry which is one of the major driving forces of our economy, aftermarket that covers the transaction, parts, mechanics, tuning, and parts recycling has to develop further.

This year, the show has been made up of four shows, Auto Service Korea, Tuning Show, Auto Camping 2016, and Auto Parts, a new mini show that has been created this year.

Lotte Auto Fiesta, the mini show displaying foreign cars, has been prepared with Lotte Department Store and ten foreign cars including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Infinity, Peugeot, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Ford, Lincoln, and Macerati were displayed at the show, available for sales. One-hundred two cars have been sold at the show.

Seventy one companies from 16 countries including Canadian Tire, China Foshan Parts Association, and Nanjing Parts Association came to the export show and recorded an estimated consultation of 1.05 billion USD and sales of 6 million USD.

Korea Automobile Tuning Industry Association(KATIA) introduced its tuning police demo cars, and Jun Fitted exhibited 20 tuning cars and 20 racing models. Two visitors won the chance to have their cars polished by Meguiar's Korea through the official Automotive Week Facebook event.

Drift Run, the landmark event of Automotive Week, satisfied the eyes and ears of the visitors.

In the eighth National Auto Mechanic Contest hosted by Korea Association of Auto Technicians, Yun Suk-jun from Jin Seung Auto Factory and Kim Min-kyun from Gyeonggi High School of Automotive Sciences won the grand prizes. In Outstanding Tuner Selection Contest from Auto Tuner Korea, Wu Hyun-kyu from Moriscar Audio took the first place.

Seminars with topics like "Changes in Car Body Repair in Current Car Industry," "New Ways of Auto Mechanics," and "Training for Performance Checking Agents" received positive feedback from the participants.

Commemorating its 10th run with its largest exhibition area of 35,000㎡ including 3,000㎡ of outdoor exhibition area, Automotive Week this year with 230 exhibitors had 65,000 visitors, surpassing 62,271 of last year. Next year's Automotive Week will be held in September 2017.
