60Hertz, Colorfully Introduces Virtual Powerplant Operation Software at ‘Korea-US Startup Summit’…”Usable in Various Distributed Energy Systems”

60Hertz (CEO Jong-Kyu Kim) attended the Korea-US Startup Summit, which was held from Sept 20th(Tues) to the 21st(Wed, local time) in Pier 17 in New York, USA.

60Hertz is a startup that develops virtual powerplant software that connects and manages distributed energy systems like renewable energy powerplants, such as solar and wind, EVs, and ESS with IT technology.Most notably, the ‘Solar and Wind Map’ developed by 60Hertz is a service that shows the 80,000 renewable energy powerplants around Korea on a map, and predicts the power produced.

The renewable energy power output prediction service and energy management system has been proven in a 800MW renewable energy powerplant. In addition, it has received the presidential award and the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award as an excellent example of public data use in 2021, and is doing collaborative tasks, having been selected for the startup promoting program of Hyundai Motors, SK Telecom, and LG Electronics.

Renewable Energy Map released by 60Hertz last year is helping more people easily get information about renewable energy plants and participate in the project. In addition, they have developed and released to market various software for renewable energy producers, such as power output prediction service and energy management system. Project profitability is expected to increase due to lowering maintenance costs for powerplants through these methods.

The company explained that moving forward, they plan on developing various services for EVs and smart appliances, and that they are preparing a business for 2023 where they will sell the eco-friendly energy produced by renewable energy producers to companies.

A spokesman for 60Hertz said, “Our company’s energy management system can be applied to various distributed energy systems like solar power, wind power, fuel cells, ESS, and will make efficient plans by predicting the supply and demand of energy based on this. We expect to be able to pioneer the market by providing these advantages to various energy producers.”

They went on to say, “We have received seed investments from Hyundai Motor Group Zer01ne, and our company is currently collaborating with various companies like Hyundai Engineering and Construction and SK Telecom.” They went on to reveal their plans for the future, saying, “They are utilizing various energy IT services such as the renewable energy power output prediction service, energy management system, and simulation software for the use of renewable energy. In addition, we plan to develop various energy services linked with EVs in the future and release it to the market.”

On the other hand, the Korea-U.S.STARTUP SUMMIT hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups(Minister Young Lee) and supervised by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development(Director Yongmoon Kim) and Korea Venture Investment is providing scene of network between South Korean startups and global companies, VC and startups from New York with the nickname Silicon Alley where ecosystem and IT industry are well-developed. Through this event, they are seeking new business models of K-startups and advances into the global market, and promotes domestic investment of global capital. During the event, a corporate PR booth (joint pavilion between large corporation-startup) was set up, and U.S. VC and investment attraction IR, AC, Tech Media, and meetups and seminars were held with companies succeeded to enter the U.S. market.
