2022 K- ICT WEEK in BUSAN Opens at BEXCO on the 28th … 262 Companies in Attendance, Over 400 Booths Operated!

Under the grand title of ‘K-ICT WEEK, 3 events in 2022 AI Korea, the 18th IT EXPO BUSAN, and the 10th CLOUD EXPO KOREA and opened at the same time starting on the 28th at the 2nd Exhibition Hall of BEXCO, the biggest in scale in the AI/ICT field.

Hosted by the city of Busan and the Ministry of Science and ICT, organized by the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, and overseen jointly by BEXCO, ETNEWS, Digital Chosun Ilbo, The AI, Pusan National University AI Integrated Research Laboratory, and the International Association for AI & Ethics, this event is an ICT event that links AI KOREA, CLOUD EXPO KOREA, and IT EXPO KOREA, which will all be held until the 30th.

With the theme of ‘Great Digital Transformation, the Start of the Journey’, 262 companies, institutions, and universities both from and out of the region attended this year with around 400 booths, and showcased the preparation status and solution of the City of Busan and companies in the region in accordance to the era of great change, which includes an era of digital transformation based on big data, transition from the Corona pandemic to endemic, and the transformation of the ICT technology paradigm.

The event introduced the technologies and services of each company through the exhibitions in AI, CLOUD, and IT, and shared the latest technological trends and cases through the AI Conference (theme –great innovation for the future of AI), and CLOUD Conference (theme – Cloud, the start of digital transformation). 60 buyers were invited, and export consultations were conducted through on/offline matching between companies in attendance.

Various events were operated as additional events, including the DDS (open data) Convergence Research Center Technology Briefing Session, 2022 ETRI Busan Promising Technology Commercialization Briefing Session, Attending Companies Technology and Product Presentation, and Open Studio.

Various key companies in the AI Technology Hall showcased their technology, such as ‘Stance and MDS Intelligence’ introducing a digital twin life-cycle valuation technology integrated platform, ‘S.Pin Technology’ introducing HoloLens2 which is optimized for  Microsoft’s mixed reality environment, and ‘QTT’, the digital dentalcare solution company,exhibiting e.a.po, which is a AI-based self oral-examination app service.

In the ‘Busan XR/Metaverse Company Joint Hall’ prepared by the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, there were a variety of things to directly experience, such as immersive sports devices (VR/AR), Busan meta travel, augmented reality insect origami, and AI chat VR English education.

In the AI Education Hall, the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education and 24 schools, including schools leading AI education, AI integrated educationcentered high schools, ABM pilot schools (AI, big data, metaverse integrated education), and big data and metaverse teacher clubs, got together and created a place of sharing AI, big data, and metaverse education cases. In addition, many AI related universities, such as Pukyong National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation joint hall, Dongseo University, Tongmyong University, and Pusan National University AI Graduate School and AI Convergence Research Center, attended to introduceacademic activities and share research results. ‘KT’ also showcased their coding education platform, AI Codiny, and ‘Jini Edu Tech’ introduced an ‘AI KIT’ that was developed to reduce the regional gap in AI education.

Busan Techno Park were present in the ‘Busan Blockchain Regulation-free Special Zone Promotion Hall’ with 6 other companies, and introduced blockchain-based logistics, tourism, public safety, finance, and medical services.At the ‘Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Marine Robot Center’ booth, you could see the newly released marine garbage collection robots and autonomous unmanned submersibles.

The ‘Gyeonggi Business & Science Accelerator’introduced 10 tasks (crosswalk pedestrian safety AI service, AI indoor positioning emergency safety service, etc) using the AI technology verification testbed with other companies. The ‘Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology’ exhibitedthings like AI-based integrated/complex technologycommercialization cooperation and leading model establishment cases and future promising technology in the field of AI. AI companies from the USA, Singapore, UK (UK Embassy), and Germany were in attendance, allowing people to see the AI technological capabilities of foreign companies and consult with them.

It was a place to determine the trend of the industry and share the latest information through various additional events, such as a domestic and foreign buyer conference that linked investors and sources of demand with attending companies, technology/product presentations for attending companies, AI ethics contests with the themeslike‘AI Robot, AI Digital Human, AI and Ethics in SF Films’, and the AWC in Busan (AI World Congress), an AI conference.

Finally, as a joint effort of the carbon finance company, ‘GeeGooin’, and the carbon emission company, ‘EcoEye’, the ‘Carbon Neutral Action Event with 2022 AI KOREA’ was held. When various missions like eco-friendly transportation, recycling garbage, and using eco-friendly products were completed and verified by attendees, they could receive greenhouse gas reduction certificates (NFT), and other various eco-friendly souvenirs. After the event, they took the certificates donated by attendees and the offset credits donated by EcoEye and operated AI KOREA as a carbon-neutral event. In addition, there were other various AI and metaverse related experiences and events prepared by each attending company.

Under the big title of ‘K-ICT WEEK’ the 3 events of 2022 AI KOREA, the ‘18th IT EXPO BUSAN’, and the ‘10th CLOUD EXPO KOREA’ were held simultaneously at the 2nd Exhibition Hall of BEXCO to create the biggest scale exhibition in the AI/ICT field and stood to maximize the 4thindustrial revolution innovative technology promotion and business effects.
