GoodWe participated in the International Green Energy Expo 2021 held at EXCO, Daegu from April 28 (Wed) to 30 (Fri) and introduced its one-body connection box inverter.

GoodWe is a strategic thinking leader with a focus on research and production of PV inverters and energy storage solutions. With 23 GW installed in more than 100 countries, GoodWe’s solar inverters have been used mainly for residential, commercial rooftop, industrial and utility scale systems and energy storage systems.

At the Green Energy Expo exhibition hall, AVING News met GoodWe Branch Manager Kim Gil-joong to interview on the solar power module products and one-body junction box inverter.

Q1. Company introduction

A. Kim: GoodWe is a company specialized in the streaming inverter sector, and has established itself as a firm global leader. There are more than 400 researchers and technology from three R&D centers. Since 2018, the company holds unbeatable technology proven by introducing double-sided modular inverters to the Korean market. Also, it is supplying a variety of lineups ranging from 700W to 250kW in Korea.

Q2. Product introduction and specifications

A. Kim: Our inverter is a one-body junction box, so there is no need to install a junction box separately. We can save cost from not having to install additional connection box, cables, and maintenance fee that comes with it. Also, in terms of initial input cost, the boundary with the central inverter is broken, and the fence cost required for a high-voltage system can be reduced as in the case of using a central inverter.

Also, our product is a double-sided module with an input current of 15~16A. We are currently developing the new 20A product. Recently, double-sided modules of 530W or more are becoming popular, and double-sided modules of 570W or more will be released from the second half of this year. Currently, our products are the only inverters that can be connected to double-sided modules and that can respond to pre-use inspections such as fuses of 25A or more and LCD displays. Also, the self-developed monitoring system SEME is also provided free of charge.

Q3. Future plans

A. Kim: In addition to various safety functions required by KS, it is equipped with functions such as humidity detection and AFCI that immediately shuts off circuits in case of arcing to respond to various situations such as supplying inverters for floating solar power in salted areas and farming solar power. We are planning to expand the market by building a product line. Currently, the cumulative amount in the global market is about 23GW, and in the Korean market, it is expected to exceed 1.5GW this year.

The 18th International Green Energy Expo is Korea’s largest, one of Asia’s top 3 and the world’s top 10 new and renewable energy exhibitions, and the only exhibition jointly organized by the four major associations. The exhibition covers △Solar power △ESS (energy storage system) & battery △Smart grid technology △Wind power and △New and renewable energy. This exhibition is hosted by Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do and organized by EXCO, KNREA, KOPIA, KWEIA, and KHIA.
