LAS VEGAS, USA (AVING Special Report on 'infoComm 2008') -- <Visual News> Opticis presented its USB, DVI, HDMI and FireWire optical extender product family, June 18 - 20 at InfoComm 2008, in Las Vegas.
This new technology allows high resolution WQXGA (2560 x 1600 pixels) video products to display flawlessly over long distances with all the benefits of glass optical fiber replacing the video copper wires.
The M1-3R2VI-DU consisting of a Transmitter (Tx) and Receiver (Rx) provides the same uncompressed dual-link DVI video operation as its predecessor. The multi-mode fiber count is reduced to four LC terminated glass optical fibers (GOF) that will operate up to up to 100m (330ft) with a CAT5 link managing the Hot Plug Detect, EDID parameters, power and ground requirements. In addition, without changing the optical transceivers, the product will operate up to 2 km (6,600 ft) with single-mode GOF using Opticis' virtual DDC programming feature to replace the CAT5 link with programmable EDID parameters in the transmitter.
