KINTEX's (www.kintex.com) exhibition of the general welfare industry 'SENDEX' was selected as the Premium Global Exhibition at the 'VIP ASIA AWARDS 2013'.
Organized by the Ministry of Health & Welfare and the city of Goyang-si Gyeonggido and hosted by the KHIDI and ATRAC, 'SENDEX 2013' is Korea's biggest trade-fair in general welfare industry. Over 220 companies from 15 countries including Singapore, Thailand, and Australia participated in the exhibition.
This year marks the 9th year of this exhibition and it set the stage for vitalizing industry for the aged and inter-industrial information. Introducing welfare equipment and technologies to assist and enhance the quality of life of persons with disabilities. Actual equipment such as hearing aids was available for elderlies to try first-hand. Also, it is recognized as being a meaningful exhibition, providing 1:1 interviews and information regarding job placement and post-retirement life plans.
For 6 consecutive years, SENDEX acquired the international certification mark from the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy. Participants from 15 different countries including Australia, Japan, Thailand, and Singapore, over 755 booths were set up. About 500 foreign visitors and over 30,000 domestic visitors attended the exhibition.
This year, the Korea Tourism Organization and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization sponsored an event to support the developing rehabilitation and assistive technology. Being held for the first time domestically, the International Convention on Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology raised the satisfaction of the visitors.
What made the exhibition more special was the visit by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand. She participated to survey all the new assistive technologies. International idea competition and variety of other events was also held to promote the industry to global market.
Speakers from Korea, Japan and Australia were invited for the active aging symposium. The symposium provided a time to learn the different policies and information regarding the welfare industry of the different countries. In addition, a job fair was held to aid in employment and job search of elderly and people with disabilities. Providing 1:1 consultations and offering customized job search based on different backgrounds.
Representative of KINTEX stated, "This year's SENDEX is highly recognized for its successful hold of many events and international symposiums, providing an opportunity to grow the industry for the aged and the industry for disabled and assistive devices by providing various events and seminars. SENDEX will continue to develop the exhibition to become the main source of information for domestic elders and people with disabilities.
All the profits gained from SENDEX are to be donated to help the people in need. SENDEX 2014 will be held next year at the KINTEX Center from August 28th to 30th.
'VIP(Very Important Product & Promotion) ASIA Awards 2013' was held at Ritz Carlton in Seoul with about 200 attendees including CEOs and officials, which selected the outstanding products in Asia in the year.
