Korea communications commission (chairman Kye-cheol Lee) held 'The 8th Korea communications conference) on 15(Tue)-16(wed), May, 2012 at Grand ballroom, COEX, Korea.

'The 8th Korea Communications Conference' was held to review the promotion of communications with Foreign Governments & International Organizations, and to provide insightful information concerning the role & vision of communications and current situation of world economy on the theme of 'Smart Communications: Revolution and Evolution'.

Kye-cheol Lee, chairman of KCC participated in the public opening of this conference and there were excellent keynote speeches including 'The Future of Smart Convergence and New Opportunities'by Suk-chae Lee (CEO, KT Corporation , KOREA) and 'Beyond Connectivity!' by Rajeev Suri (Chiefexecutive officer, Nokia Siemens Networks).
This conference was run as four tracks for two days. On 15th (tue), two tracks are run at the same time,one is 'What's Next? Smart Broadcasting' and the other is 'Up in the cloud'. For the first track, 'Daiwon Hyun' (Professor, Mass Communications, Sogang University) led the morning track on the theme of 'Evolution & Strategy' (Evolutions in smart broadcasting and what broadcasters are doing strategy-wise) and two more speakers are there. Also Young-Woo Suh (Principal Research Engineer, Technical Research Institute, KBS, KOREA) leads the afternoon track on the theme of 'Platforms & Trends' (Tapping into the wide range ofsmart TV platforms and their foreseen trends) with other three speakers.
For the second track which was held at the same time with fist track, Sang Dong Lee (Chief Researcher ,Supercomputing Center, KISTI(Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information), KOREA) led the morning track on the theme of 'Service & Opportunities' (Gaining insight into what cloudservice is and the new business opportunities it presents) with three other speakers Also Kyoung Jun Lee (Professor, School of Business, Kyung Hee University, KOREA) leads theafternoon track on the theme of 'Big Data' (What must we do to effectively use big data? Whatdoes this mean for the future of social media?) with other three speakers
On the 16th (wed), there were two tracks 'Getting Smart - Mobile Applications' and'Policy Focus: Transition & Approach'. For the first track, Sun Young Park (Chairperson , Department of Management of Technology, MillerSchool , Konkuk University , KOREA) led the morning track on the theme Smart Evolutions (Whatchanges can we expect in the smart applications ecosystem? How will their technology evolve for innovation and development?) with other three speakers. Also Minzheong Song (Senior Researcher, KT Economics & Management Research Lab, KOREA) led the afternoon track on the theme of Diversity & Industry (Increasing diversity in mobile applications and how they are incorporated in the burgeoning industry) with other three speakers.
For the second track on 16th, Sangwon Ko (Research Fellow/ Executive Director , InternationalCooperation Research Division , Korean Information Society Development Institute , KOREA) led a speech of morning track on the theme of 'Challenges in Smart Communications' (A look into howgovernments are dealing with new obstacles that emerge with the changing smart environment) with other three speakers. Also, Beomsoo Kim (Associate Dean, Graduate School of Information, Yonsei University, KOREA) led the afternoon track in the theme of 'Information Security & Privacy' (Where are we today on information security and their relevant issues? What different policies are being implemented aroundthe world?) with other three speakers.
Meanwhile, this conference was held to promote entering the global market of domestic superior IT companies. And this conference was held with 'World Information and Communications Summit (WICS)', 'KANZ Broadband Summit 2012', and 'World IT Show (WIS)' at the same period. Especially, on 14th (Mon) 'New Technology Press Promotion' for introducing excellent IT products to local and overseas journalists was ended in great success.
