KEPCO introduced its power distribution underground equipment disaster prevention facility at 2019 Korea Innovative Safety and Security Expo held in KINTEX 1 on Sep. 25-27.
Workers in underground facility are in greater danger when fire or other types of disasters occurs due to the location. The disaster prevention facility introduced by KEPCO in this exhibition helps workers escape safely from various disasters.
In power distribution facilities, fire can be checked real-time with gas concentration monitoring and real-time thermal imaging CCTV, and no-power emergency escape lights, distance indication evacuation aiding lamps, and worker location checking equipment help the workers escape quickly from hazardous areas.
By installing hazardous gas inflow prevention and evacuation chamber in the underground complex substation, the inflow of toxic gas in the substation is minimized. Remote control of air conditioning facilities in the metropolitan center, installation of fire alarm LED panic bar, and individual breathing apparatus located near the workplace can minimize the damage to human workers because the workers can quickly act on it and evacuate in case of fire in the substation.
The official said, "We are happy to announce the facilities to protect the precious lives of those who work to provide electricity. Seeing so many companies working hard for the safety in various sectors, I felt that we should do the same as well."
