Korea Electronics Technology Institute, participated '2017 Korea Electronics Show(KES)' held at COEX in Samseong-dong from October 17th (Tue) to 20th (Fri) and introduced various technologies that are being developed, and the laser sensor used in autonomous car.
Established as laboratory in 1991, Korea Electronics Technology Institute and is affiliate of Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, which is doing technology transfer to companies by developing AI technology by convergence of electric and information communication related technology, that is recently getting attraction.
One of the product that has been introduced in this exhibition, it the sensor that is like an eye of an autonomous driving vehicle. The principle of this product is to know the dropped distance by measuring the returning time after shooting the laser beam. Accurate autonomous is possible only after the 3 sensors has been combined based on laser, radio wave, and camera. This product has already completed its development with one of the sensor out of 3 sensor, which carious companies are using it by technology transfer. Not only the vehicle, but it can also be used as safety sensor of the subway screen door. Recently, 30 of those were installed in Yongsan station, has successfully done its trial operation, and it also plans to install at stations as mass product has been released.
The officials of Korea Electronics Technology Institute said, "The companies don't know that Korea Electronics Technology Institute are developing many technologies, which we are developing many technologies currently. By attending these kinds of valuable exposition, we are doing our best to inform our technologies to many companies and to cooperate with them".
Meanwhile, KES 2017, hosted by Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and sponsored by KEA (Korea Electronics Association), is an international show where lots of potential buyers, governments, group officials participate, providing a good place to experience world first products like mobile phone, semiconductor, display, and next generation convergence solutions like industrial convergence, IT convergence, digital broadcasting, smart education and e health.
