This year's Jarasum Makgeolli Festival began Oct. 7. It was hosted by Korea Makgeolli Association, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Gyeonggi Province, and Gapyeong City and sponsored by aT, Korail Eastern Metropolitan Headquarter, and Naminara Republic of Korea.

Gapyeong City Governor Kim Seong-gi, Korea Makgeolli Association Head Park Seong-gi, and Korea Food Industry Association Manager Shin Wu-sik came to the opening ceremony, announcing the three-day festival.
Park Seong-gi said, "Our association prepared this festival for the second time, which is the only traditional liquor festival in Korea. We would like to thank everyone who has put in effort to make this festival."
Kim Seong-gi said, "I would like to thank the association and the sponsoring organizations. We would like to continue supporting this festival for the development of the industry and the region."

In this year's festival, about 150 breweries introduced 600 makgeolli, along with 300 tents available for stay to converge camping culture and traditional drinking culture.
Show guide and information center are available for the visitors, and Korail has extended the period of "Visit Korea Year" and extended the running time of ITX and other transportation to Jarasum, along with discounts for accommodations and tourist attractions near Gapyeong area.
