The Eighth International Climate & Environmental Fair(ICEF 2016) ran Sep. 7-9 at Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju. It is the only climate and environmental trade show in Jeonnam area co-hosted by the Metropolitan City of Gwangju and Jeonnam Province, exhibited by 140 companies including Kia Motors, KHNP, and KMA Gwangju Branch in 400 booths.
A wide variety of subsidiary events and symposia like Jeonnam Environmental Industry Job Fair, POST 2020 Industry Correspondence Strategy, Climate Change Workshop, and City Revitalization Plan and Citizen Participation will be held for the exchange of new trends in technology and information and creating new jobs in the environment industry.
This year's show provided 1:1 customized export consultation with the invitation of foreign buyers, along with co-purchase consultation show to provide more useful business opportunities. The companies and researchers were given a better chance to supply their new technology and products through this chance.
In the job fair the Ministry of Environment prepared, there were special sections for company hiring and job finding, as well as job finding lectures. About 80 companies with outstanding credentials have participated, and they have contributed greatly in providing good and stable jobs to young job seekers.
In "Water Management Symposium," experts in water supply, sewage, and water treatment have discussed actively on developing Korea's water industry, and "Sustainable Development Policy Forum" was held with a concentration on regions attaining UN's sustainable development goal.
It made itself as not only a trade show, but also the venue to discuss environment-related knowledge and make new plans for the future. Through presenting the strategies in electricity, carbon emission, climate change of POST 2020, it shared useful information that can be used in everyday life.
Experts in resource recycling were invited to present a lecture on "Resource Recycling Industry and Technology Development Assistance." Also, other seminars like "Jeonnam Environmental Industry Association Specialist Invitation," "The 19th Environment Technology Presentation," "Water Ecology Conservation from Climate Change Forum," "Strengthening City Revitalization and Citizen Participation," "Environment Technology and Industry Trend for Climate Change" and many more.
ICEF opened since 2009, and finally this year, it was chosen as a special region trade show by MOTIE. Also, it was certified by UFI as an international trade show and AKEI has approved ICEF as an international trade show for two consecutive years.
A staff at the Metropolitan City of Gwangju said, "This year's show will greatly contribute to creating jobs, finding new sales channels and increase export. We have prepared greatly for this. We will try to develop the climate and environmental industry with our show."
