The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 had more than 100,000 visitors for the first time in its history. On the 25th, the number of visitors increased by 6% compared to last year. Furthermore, approximately 4,000 people participated in ESL EXPO Barcelona, which was held on the same weekend MWC took place.
This year's MWC was held at a large-sized exhibition hall, covering more than 110,000 square meters, where more than 2,200 companies showcased their products.
Moreover, more than 3,300 international media and industry analysts participated in the event, and they captured its historic moments. Furthermore, people from more than 204 countries visited two venues, Fira Gran Via and Fira Montjuïc, where the best mobile industry events were held.
John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA Ltd, said: "MWC showed its remarkable performance, having more than 100,000 visitors for the first time. In particular, this year, various events were held, and there were many pavilions that showcased how important the mobile industry is in the global market."
Conferences were held for four days. Large-sized companies from all over the world, including various companies from mobile, software, equipment, and Internet fields, and government organizations from automobile, finance, and healthcare fields, participated in the exhibition.
More than 55% of the companies that participated in MWC sent 5,000 representatives, and all of those companies have plus C ratings. According to a preliminary economic analysis, MWC 2016 is expected to have economic effects worth 460 million euros and create more than 13,000 jobs.
