Today, "SENDEX 2014 (Senior & People with Disabilities Expo 2014) opened at Hall4 & 5 in KINTEX Exhibition Center 1. Gyeonggi Province and Goyang City co-sponsor this largest domestic rehabilitation expo, and KINTEX produced.
It is the 10th "SENDEX 2014," since the moment that the government held Senior-Friendly Industry Fair in 2005. "SENDEX 2014" shows all kinds of rehabilitative items: assistive devices for the elder and people with disabilities, health-care products, and even preparatory products for retirement targeting baby-boomer generation. The large span of products and huge sponsorship from the government make the show richly fruitful so that the number of visitors had already accrued to 20 thousand last year.
This year, "SENDEX 2014" proudly introduces "Smart Aging Expo," targeting the massive number of baby-boomer generation facing their retirement just around the corner and "8th International Symposium on Assistive Technology," aiming at the people with disabilities who need assistive devices.
180 different companies present their rehabilitative items and assistive engineering devices, and a number of senior plans and services are looking forward to meeting the visitors.
Meanwhile, "International Convention on Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology (i-CREATe)" which is credited for the most prestigious symposium in this area, opened today (28th) and ends tomorrow (29th).
The symposium encourages the development of assistive engineering technology and its related industry, as KINTEX and Special Education and Assistive Engineering Symposium Committee co-organize the event. 1,500 both domestic and international special education and assistive engineering professionals and related personnel will be on hand supported by Korea Tourism Organization and Gyeonggi Tourism. These professionals will attend the conference on "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow of Special Education and Assistive Engineering" to discuss the true reality of this industry and to promote supportive policy and development model.
Moreover, "2014 SENDEX" is rich in diverse events for all levels of age to enjoy.
"Job Fair for Middle-aged and Senior' started today to help the active seniors to be re-employed. This fair lasts until tomorrow and Goyang City Job Center, Goyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and The Korean Senior Citizens Association Goyang United Job Center jointly hold the fair. 20 different companies from Ilsandong-Gu will participate in this fair to give job opportunities for about 2,000 applicants.
"Silver Fashion Show" will be held on 28th to show the passion of seniors, and "Happy Bio Toning Exercise" is on the plan on 29th to challenge the prejudice against disabled people. 15 teams with intellectual disabilities and 7 leader teams will participated in the Barista contest from 10 a.m. to attract visitors.
"Getting the Stamp to Go! Getting the Gift Cards to Go!" event will lure the visitors for distributing Korean Thanksgiving Discount Coupons from 28th to 29th. Even without the coupons or gift cards, the visitors can also purchase the products at cheaper price than the market price.
The Expo Committee said, "The expo in this year is to satisfy the need of 7 million people who are ready to be senior citizens. So, we set the theme as "Well-Aging for happy senior life" and "Smart Aging for healthy senior life." I wish this expo not only satisfies their need but also enhance the global competition in the related industry."
