SEOUL, Korea (AVING Special Report on 'GNGWC 2007') -- <Visual News> The first global e-sports league for massively multiplayer online games kicked off with the European match start.
GNGWC (Game&Game World Championship, www.gngwc.com), is an international game competition which began in 2006 by Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA) in order to promote Korean online games throughout the World.
Last year, 1,070,000 gamers from 5 regions including Korea, Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, and America took participation in this competition of three official games. Compared to last year’s event, the number of GNGWC 2007 official games is expanded to six games, which are “Shot Online(shotonline.gamescampus.com)” from On-Net, “Bomb ‘n Dash (www.bombndash.com)” from Innodis, “Silkroad Online(www.silkroadonline.net)” from Joymax, “Record of Lunia War(global.lunia.com)” from allm, “Navy Field (www.navyfiled.com)” from SDEnternet, “Warrock(www.warrock.net)” from Dream execution.
This year’s competition will begin with European preliminary round started in August, followed by America and East Pacific Asia in September, and Japan in October. The final winners of each country will be selected to participate in the grand final held on December 1st in Seoul, Korea, and digital camera, MP3 player, and DVD player are provided to 2nd, 3rd winners of each regional match. Furthermore, the 1st place of the grand final will be awarded 5,000(USD), and 3,000(USD) for the 2nd place, and 1,000(USD) for the 3rd place. In addition, Korean tour program is prepared during this grand final period too, KIPA said.
“Any gamers who are interested in this e-sports league can participate now,” said the representative of KIPA, the host of this game event. “Record of Lunia War and Bomb ‘n Dash are quite new games, and you have more chances to be invited to the grand final even you start the game now”, he added.
