AVING News interviewed Cho Yong-hwan, the CEO of Dalgooji Food, which participated in the MIK HOT SPOT (Made in Korea Online Exhibition) Local Economy Stimulating Project.

Q. Please introduce your company briefly.

A. I started my business by opening a small entrails restaurant in 1994. The process of trimming by-products is very difficult, especially the cleaning, and the most problematic part was softening the meat and removing the odor.

So, to improve hygiene and quality along with mass production, we established a manufacturing and processing factory in 1999, and even started a franchise business called Dalgooji Makchang to introduce entrails to the consumers nationwide.

Q. Please introduce major products.

A. We used the steam method to cook entrails once to preserve juice and make it easy to manage, and we have developed the smoked entrails that does not smell like entrails.

The main items are the patented steamed entrails and smoked entrails. Especially, smoked entrails is a product that controls the unique smell of entrails and made to have everyone enjoy it. Currently, our products are widely distributed as OEMs to large companies and markets, so you can easily cook and eat at home or camping.

Q. Tell us about participating in the Local Economy Stimulating Project.

A. We are receiving a lot of help from Daegu Technopark. The initial cost involved in the process of developing three to four new products each year is quite burdensome, but I was able to challenge without worry. We are receiving help in many areas such as prototype development, promotion brochure making, consulting, and social media promotion support.

Q. Any last words you would like to say?

A. Entrails is one of the top 10 foods in Daegu. We will always develop new and diverse items to provide food that can be easily eaten anywhere. We will do our best to become a trusted company and provide trusted products.

The Local Economy Stimulating Project from Daegu, which supported companies participating in the MIK HOT SPOT (Made in Korea Online Exhibition) is running as a major national project for balanced national development. The Local Economy Stimulating Project had been running since last year to solve the industrial crisis and revitalize the industrial ecosystem.

Especially this year, to support SMEs in Daegu that are directly hit by COVID-19 and to overcome the local economic downturn, two areas (automotive parts, cosmetics, and food) in Daegu were additionally selected to receive 12 billion won of national expenditure for each project for two years. Daegu is expected to prepare 4.1 billion for the supplementary budget.
