Han Chae-won, CEO of Chobless, lost 30kg by drinking fermented vinegar. She has fallen in love with it since then, and now, she has developed the solid-type fermented vinegar Lia-ping. AVING News interviewed Ha Chae-won, the CEO of Chobless, which participated in the MIK HOT SPOT (Made in Korea Online Exhibition) Seoul Food Startup Center.

Please introduce your company briefly.

Chobless is the food tech startup established in 2018, and first developed fermented vinegar in solid form. I had fermented vinegar that my father made and succeeded in losing 30kg, and fell in love with fermented vinegar. However, despite its good health benefits, fermented vinegar is hard to be popularized because it is not easy to eat and does not taste good. So I developed Lia-pong. I removed the discomfort of fermented vinegar, and made it into solid form that was convenient to carry and distribute, so you can have it anytime and anywhere. We have received attention from the people who are on diet and interested in inner beauty, and have been increasing sales.

What are the major features of the products?

The name Lia-pong has the meaning of vinegar that benefits my body. The benefits of fermented vinegar is that it has preserved the good things and removed the bad things. We have manufactured it as health functional food by adding health supplementary ingredients. Fermented vinegar has very good health benefits like weight control, postpartum management, and fatigue recovery, and helps digestion and bowel movement. It is also a good antioxidant. Lia-pong fermented vinegar comes in three types, Diet Lia-pong for losing weight, Detox Lia-pong to help bowel movement, and Daily Lia-pong for relieving fatigue.

Diet Lia-pong contains garcinia, which helps you lose weight, with the taste of fresh lemon citron, making it easy for people to enjoy. Detox Liapong was especially developed to address the need for bowel movements to help the women suffering from constipation while they are on a diet. It contains indigestible dextrin, which can solve the problem of constipation.

For those who do not wish to go on a diet or do not have constipation, and young children, Daily Lia-pong, is a vinegar that tastes like muscat, and it can be drunk like a regular beverage. We have removed the unpleasant acidity that comes with vinegar, and left only convenience and freshness. Please try it.

Do you have any countries in your mind for export?

The first countries we have in mind to export are Southeast Asian countries. Previously, we have exported 23,000 dollars to Southeast Asia and China. I am interested in Korean Wave and K FOOD, so I would like to contribute to promoting the fermentation culture of Korea with premium products. We are working with the GTEP project group from a foreign language university to enter the overseas market in full force, and we are planning to start full-scale overseas marketing from the second half of the year.

What are your plans for the future?

We are planning to soon launch Lia Super Meal in spoon-fed form, removing the disadvantage of conventional substitute meals, and containing plenty of protein and other nutrition. It is a low-carbohydrate, high-protein product, and you can eat it without adding milk or water. By combining this product and our Lia-pong, we would like to propose a healthy meal to consumers who want inner beauty and diet. In the second half of the year after launching in Korea, we are seeking exports targeting overseas, and in the future, we want to become a company that helps solve the problem of nutritional imbalances by establishing a personalized nutrition platform in the future.

Seoul Food Startup Center, which participated in MIK HOT SPOT (Made in Korea Online Exhibition) is providing support to the agri-food-related companies come up with innovative ideas and new products. It is supporting food processing technology, licensing, patents, design, and promotional marketing so that agricultural products can be reborn as high-value products.
