Although there is nothing to be ashamed about a women's menstruation, many people hide it and feel uncomfortable and call it something else like "magic" or "that day." When women start menstruation, they use sanitary napkins, tampons, and menstrual cups. Menstrual cups can be worn for a long time and have superior coverage, but it is inconvenient to clean it. IG's portable menstrual cup sterilizer has solved this problem.

Mun I-gee, the CEO of IG, participated in the MIK Hot Spot (Made in Korea Online Exhibition) KHIDI and introduced the portable menstrual cup sterilizer, saying that it is her goal to provide a better menstrual life for women.

What is the background for developing the product?

I have only used sanitary napkins ever since I started menstruation, and it was a miracle to use a menstrual cup. But, it was very inconvenient to sanitize the menstrual cup in the pot, and out of shame, I had to do it without having anyone knowing it.

Even though menstruation is indispensable in a woman's life, I was sad to hide it. So, I wanted to change people's perception of menstruation and become a medium to help improve the perception.

How competitive is the product?

We are developing UV sterilizer and electrolytic water sterilizer. The UV sterilizer irradiates UV rays by using the UVA and UVC lamps in two directions, and the inside is chrome-plated to prevent blind spots through diffuse reflection. The existing UV sterilizer only has one lamp, so the user had to turn the menstrual cup several times to sterilize it, but this device improved this.

The electrolytic water sterilizer sterilizes not by boiling water, but by the electrolysis of water. It can sterilize by reducing the damage to the menstrual cup and reduce the risk of burns, and the user can visually check the operation of the product, or cover the outer case according to the surrounding environment to protect the privacy.

When you throw out the small cover inside, you can sterilize without having to pick up the menstrual cup and the risk of dropping it. We have designed the product with the consideration of the user's interface in mind.

Reliability

As a product designer, I think it is important to design by observing the user's living environment. The menstrual cup sterilizer product series is a good example of showing this. I have put a lot of thought into its design as well as its structure and use. Currently, three patents are pending.

Objectives

Our short-term goal is to complete the product development and launch it, and our long-term goal is to become a menstrual product brand loved by women in many countries. We would like to establish our product as a must-have for women in all countries using menstrual cups. We are considering exporting our product when it is ready.

Online marketing is taking more roles these days due to the COVID-19 issue. Since the limitation on the offline activities is applied to the companies as well as the investors and buyers, many are looking for company information online. In this day and age, online convention has transformed itself from being an alternative to the main trend. In particular, it is expected that the "video" that delivers company information will play the role of a company's "SFO (Store, Factory, Office)" at the final point of communication.
