The CES 2020 will open in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Jan. 7, with 4,500 companies and 180,000 visitors from 161 countries around the world. At CES every year, not only exhibitions but also lectures by major global ICT companies are held. In particular, the keynote speech is hosted by a leader who leads the ICT trend, and many industry insiders pay attention to its contents.

In Korea this year, Kim Hyun-suk, CEO of Samsung Electronics' CE division, will deliver a keynote speech. Kim was chosen as the first speaker of the free show, which is the most important of the keynote speeches. The free show, which will be held on the eve of the opening day, is a venue that introduces key trends that encompass the entire event this year. Through the meeting, Kim plans to share Samsung Electronics' vision to transform consumer lifestyles with technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and 5G.

It will be the first time in three years that a Samsung Electronics official will make a keynote speech at the CES in 2016 after a keynote speech by Hong Won-pyo, CEO of Samsung SDS. During the last 10 years from 2010 to 2019, Samsung Electronics stood at the CES keynote platform four times. Previously, Samsung Electronics was the keynote speaker for its vice chairman Yoon Boo-keun in 2011 and 2015, and Woo Nam-sung, president of the System LSI Business Department, in 2013. Including a keynote speech by LG Electronics CTO President Park Il-pyong last year, a total of six South Korean companies have taken on CES keynote speeches over the past decade.
