SMATOF 2019 (Korea Int'l Smart factory & Manufacturing Technology Fair) To Be Held on Oct 29th

The only trade show certified by UFI (The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) in Gyeongsangnam-do, SMATOF 2019 (Korea Int'l Smart factory & Manufacturing Technology Fair) will take place in all exhibition halls of Changwon Exhibition Convention Center (CECO) for four days from October 29th to November 1st. This year's SMATOF is expected to boast the largest scale ever, with 500 booths from 150 companies.

Gyeongsangnam-do(Gyeongnam), the industrial backbone of Korea, where over 40% of the country's major exports—shipbuilding, aviation, heavy industry—and machinery industrial complexes are concentrated, is working hard on realization of the smart manufacturing and automation, as a solution to upgrade manufacturing sites run by human resources and to secure its global competitiveness.

Thanks to active support by the government and local governmental agencies to expand a smart factory initiative since 2017, Gyeongnam and its surrounding areas have been rising as a place with the greatest demand for smart factories. Gyeongnam aims to build 500 smart factories this year and 2,000 by 2022, through the additional local government's budgets, as well as through the government's budget supports, smartification of core industries in the region, expansion of Research and Development (R&D), and establishment of related funds.

As the region's largest smart factory event, SMARTOF provides opportunities for doing businesses on site with CEOs and purchasing and equipment managers. Major smart manufacturers, part automation businesses and solution providers such as HYUNDAI ROBOTICS, Hanwha Precision Machinery, Doosan Robotics, Neuromeka, HIGEN Motor, Global ZEUS, AMS KOREA, EPLAN Software & Service, HanSung Well Tech Co. Ltd will attend.

SMATOF, hosted directly by Gyeongsangnam-do and Changwon City and organized by COEX, the organizer of AUTOMATION WORLD—the largest automation exhibition in Korea, presents visions and trends of smart manufacturing, in collaboration with relevant authorities committed to the distribution of smart factories in the region. At the same time, SMATOF provides various conferences inviting experts for four days with Gyeongnam Technopark, Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (KIRIA), Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), and Korea Smart Manufacturing Industry Association(KOSMIA). Through these events, the show opens up a stage where both of buyers and providers of smart factories can gather together.

This year, items which can be directly applied to the companies with the demand for smart factories in Gyeongnam will be added to the show. Thus, this year's trade show will be the largest event showcasing specified and segmented items for smart factories, such as FA/PA solutions, IOT/M2M, software, industrial/manufacturing robots and logistics solutions.

A Smart Factory Exhibition Customized for Companies with the Demand and the Providers With the growing trend of 'smart factory', one of aspects of the 4th Industrial Revolution, governmental agencies and related institutions especially in the South Eastern region of Korea are committed to promotion and distribution of smart factories. Most of companies, however, are not aware of how they can establish an environment for smart manufacturing in their business sites. Also, in the current environment, most of these companies are just realizing smart manufacturing in very few parts, such as by automatically collecting their production outcomes or required data.

SMATOF showcases the partial automation by different types with providers in a customized way, allowing local small and mid-sized vendors to improve their productivity even right after applying for the budgets and introducing the automation. Not only that, Gyeongnam Technopark, an organization in charge of the budget and supply, will provide consultation on the establishment of the system for individual companies, at the smart factory counselling center at the show. The show is a must-see for local businesses, as it offers the first-hand experience of comparing smart factory and partial automation construction skills and cases with demonstration.

SMATOF Attracts the Biggest Global Machinery Buyers As the largest trade show in Gyeongnam specialized in smart factories, SMATOF includes a variety of events jointly held with well-known global smart technology related trade shows such as SIE and SFE, which would contribute to the quality of the show. While SMATOF has always attracted large scale buyer groups every year, this year's SMATOF signed business agreements with buyer groups from China, India, Taiwan and some Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Along with this, European big buyers' group was attracted this year as well.

In particular, Commerce Department of India, a country which is emerging as an alternative production base to China, will dispatch a big buyers' group to SMATOF in order to purchase Korean automation technologies and machinery. Through an one-on-one buyer matching system, the show aims to make small and mid-sized companies see the actual achievement of exports. Furthermore, a daily refreshing beer party will be held during the show, and visitors will be given an opportunity to win giveaways—Galaxy Note 10 and Xiaomi's Mi air purifier. Also, related institutions and companies will hold various seminars and conferences at the special stage at the show venue, inviting prominent speakers under the themes including 'Smart Factory Construction Strategy for small and mid-sized companies', 'Smart Factory Construction Technology and Cases', and 'Manufacturing Robot Tour'. Through these series of events, the trade show will present various strategies and solutions for domestic companies to prepare for the 4th Industrial Revolution, and provide an opportunity to solve questions about smart factory construction posed by companies that hope to automatize their systems.
