MOLIT decides to hold "Korean Smart City Business Opportunities Event" during attendance in SCEWC 2019 held in Barcelona.

MOLIT will support global and innovative companies that will participate in the creation of a smart city by cooperation with domestic companies.

South Korea's new 'Smart city' project begins its third attraction event in Barcelona, Spain.

'Korean Smart City Business Opportunities Event', held by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and supported by National IT Promotion Agency (NIPA) and KIC Europe, will be held in Barcelona, Spain, on Nov. 19, during '2019 SCEWC'.

This event is a global company attraction program for Sejong-si and Busan-si, both of which are emerging as Korea's new smart cities. The first event was held in Korea last September (2019 WSCE World Smart City Expo) and second in London, UK on Oct. 30. The event being held during 2019 SCEWC will be the third in line.

Smart city model complex is a public and corporate project, which has the following objectives: 1) Development and spread of technologies to prepare for Industry 4.0; 2) Providing solutions of a new concept to city problems; 3) Improving the quality of life; and 4) Creating an innovative business environment. Sejong-si and Busan-si have been selected as two model cities in which this smart city project will be realized.

The event will try to attract attention from global companies within the model city through smart city national model city introduction and outlining the support provided for global companies. Also, various promotions will be held in place so that such companies can work with domestic companies as well.

This event is for more than 50 European smart city core/IT related institutions and groups that have the smart city technology/services and are participating in '2019 SCEWC'.

For this event, MOLIT, NIPA, Sejong/Busan Smart City MP, Sejong Technopark, Busan IT Promotion Agency and KIC Europe are participating, as well as domestic companies targeting the local market.

The opening speech will be delivered by Chunghwan Ahn, Head of Land and City Department from MOLIT. He will introduce the competitive edge that 'smart city' will bring to Korea, the rising star in Industry 4.0.

The main agendas include the developmental direction of smart cities, focused around Sejong-si and Busan's Echo Delta city, focus areas and other master plans, which will be revealed in the event.

Sejong smart city's plan will include AI-based mobility healthcare and seven other services that can change the lives of its citizens. The Sejong MP will explain, under the theme of city space, an optimized city for the realization of various services.

Busan's smart city, named Echo Delta city, will construct a 'City life with a robot' and 'Korean water-specialized city model', in order to provide new business environments for robotics and water management. Other secret master plans will also be revealed.

This will be followed by a presentation from each area, including Sejong Technopark and Busan IT promotion agency, who will talk about cooperation with global companies and further supports that could be provided.

Projects that can be realized, even in the form of model business, will be promoted through cooperation between domestic and global companies, and further support will be given to such projects.

The event will also include four Korean companies – Sharpen Goat (CEO Ik hwan Kwon), Eduhash Global Partners (CEO James (Junghweon) Jeon), Zero Web (CEO Jae hyun Lee) and Quantum Gate (CEO Ju-yong Back) - who are actually taking part in the construction of smart cities. Introductions of these companies and their projects will also be introduced, and these companies will also play an active role in discovering global companies that may provide local cooperation and support.

NIPA has decided to construct a "smart city global networking group" and promoted this to grab the attention from global innovative companies. In the second event held in London, UK, 20 local companies from Europe have agreed to cooperate, proving the huge success of the event. The third event will also be a part of this success story.
