Korea's largest future car exhibition Daegu International Future Auto Expo 2019 opens

Daegu International Future Auto Expo 2019 (DIFA 2019) was held in Daegu EXCO (CEO Seo Jang-eun) from October 17 (Thu) to 20 (Sun) with great fanfare.

Major automakers like Hyundai Motors, Kia Motors, Renault Samsung, and Tesla and global auto parts companies like Hyundai Mobis, LG, Samsung SDI, and KT exhibited at the show.

Also, Korea's major auto parts companies like SL Corporation, Sambo Motors, Kyung Chang Industrial, Valeo Pyeong Hwa, Pyung Hwa Holdings, Erae AMS, Korea Igus, Daeyoung Chaevi and universities fostering talents in the automobile industry like DGIST, Kyungpook National University, Keimyung University and Kyungil University participated.

In this year's show, there were a variety of future concept cars, attracting the attention of many visitors.

In addition to Kia Motors' lead system, Hyundai Mobis's M. VISION, which introduced itself in a broadcast advertisement, exhibited. LG also unveiled its concept car made by the collaboration of its autonomous car technology.

This year's show was filled with fun and excitement exposition of future cars with autonomous driving shuttles, eco-friendly cars, and miniature electric cars, as well as e-mobility devices such as electric kickboards and electric cars.

At the forum event where future automotive experts from Korea and abroad gather in one place, 78 speakers spoke at 25 sessions for heated discussion.

Some of the guest speakers include KT's president Lee Dong-myeon who spoke at the opening event, Vice President Park Dong-il in charge of the electronics at Hyundai Motors who gave keynote lecture, and CEO Jian Chiong Zhao of Silicon Valley's AutoX who gave a keynote lecture on technology-focused content for professionals.

The expert forum was open for two days from Oct. 17 to give lectures on autonomous cars and eco-friendly cars. Particularly, self-driving technology sessions announced by Silicon Valley's autonomous driving software companies was held, as well as multinational sessions where companies from the UK, Germany and China introduced future trends of the future cars of their countries.

There was a special session by Infineon, the world's No. 1 company in the automotive semiconductor industry, and a session on the role of the police in the era of autonomous driving by National Police Agency.

There were various conferences and seminars run by Korea's future automobile specialist society and major institutions, drawing the future automobile experts in Korea and abroad to Daegu.

In this year's show, a particular attention was paid to the business programs for participating companies. In the export consultation prepared with KOTRA, 61 overseas buyers participated, and an information session and one-on-one company consultation was held by inviting purchasing representatives of global finished car companies such as Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and General Motors.

Daegu has continued its effort to set up market pioneers, and buyers from all over the world lined up to be a part of it.

Daegu city mayor Kwon Young-jin said, "The best part of DIFA is that the ever changing innovative technologies can be seen in Daegu. We hope that many companies can use our show to promote their technologies to the world and find new markets."

General visitors can get a discount on admission fee if they pre-register through the DIFA website (www.difa.or.kr) by 6 pm on October 16 (Wed).

Daegu International Future Auto EXPO (DIFA) was hosted by Daegu Metropolitan City and National Academy of Engineering of Korea, and organized by EXCO and Korea Intelligent Automotive Parts Promotion Institute. The show is operating various programs such as exhibitions, business meetings, forums, and side events. The exhibition items include finished cars, parts service, and tuning.
