WeAreFriends received the support from Soongsil University Startup Support Group to exhibit at GITEX 2019 from Oct. 6 to 10 to introduce TriPriend, the application that matches foreigners with same interests.

There are many apps that match foreign friends, but the original purpose of the app which is to make new foreign friends can easily shift to date app, with many cases of assault occurring.

To solve such problem, TriPriend suggests a variety of common interests such as cultural activities, sports, leisure, and lifestyle to match foreign friends with same interests.

Also, by sharing 10 questions, photos, and self-introduction files recorded with the voice of the other party, users can build trust with each other, and GPS-based guarantee money policy is implemented to prevent no-show.

This method uses GPS technology to find out the locations of the users, and returns the prepaid deposit if the user is found to be located within 100m of the meeting place.

Cho Gye-yeon, the CEO of WeAreFriends, said, "We started as a service that matches local friends when backpacking abroad, and now, it is used by 50,000 people in about 100 countries. Most of all, there are a lot of loyal customers because our system can arrange offline meetings with the trust built on our own solution. It is a service that connects the place of meeting, so our biggest goal at the show is to make partnership with the contents providers in the Middle East market.".

In its 39th year, GITEX 2019 was attended by more than 4,500 companies from 140 countries, and it is the major ICT exhibition in the Middle East and Africa sought by 100,000 overseas buyers.

A wide range of products and technologies from home appliances to telecommunications equipment, IT, and Industry 4.0 are displayed. Also, GITEX Future Stars, with more than 750 startups, 400 large investors and global accelerators, also took place.

Soongsil University Startup Support Group that participated in Gulf Information Technology Exhibition began its service with the name of SME Graduate School in 1983 was selected as the startup leading university in 2016. It is providing a systematic and high-quality startup education system and serving the role of fostering successful entrepreneurs with diverse startup support activities.
