Global leaders and SMEs with innovative technology make grand entrance The largest PV/ESS/new and renewable energy trade show in Korea ended after three days of festivity. Three-hundred companies from 27 countries participated and directly facing industry 4.0, they boasted their latest and best technologies, paving their ways from the present to the future of this industry.
In this year's show, eight of the world's top 10 solar battery and panel companies exhibited, including the world's no. 1 PV cell manufacturer Hanwha Qcells along with their world's no. 2 and 3, JA Solar and Trina Solar respectively. Also, the world's no. 1 solar battery manufacturer LONGi Solar exhibited. In PV inverter area, top 5 companies among the 10, Huawei, Sungrow, SMA, ABB, and Sineng exhibited and shifted the global PV market. Along with this, PV strongholds like Germany, Austria, and Switzerland exhibited, which proved the show's dignity as Korea's major trade show.
As the International Green Energy Expo became the outpost for profit generation and domestic and overseas market development, the competition for product and technology marketing was fierce among SMEs on top of large companies their affiliates including Hyundai Heavy Industries Green Energy and OCI Power.
Directing attention to SMEs with technology and market competitiveness Thirteen percent of the exhibitors were from Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas, including HN Solar, CS Tech, Seochang Electric Communication, Kyung Won Power, Tantan Structure Engineering, Taewoong Energy, Ajin Solartec, ID Information System, and Sinil E&C. Thirty Daegu companies took up 100 booths this year, a 20% increase from last year. Also in Gyeongbuk area, 10 companies including Ebisu Industry, Keukdong Energy, and Sehan Solar exhibited in 20 booths.
These companies in Daegu and Gyeongbuk attracted visitors with their solid technology, market competitiveness, and innovative products. From Daegu area, Daesung Energy gave the overview of new as renewable energy, and Duksan Cotran and Techen grabbed the attention from the visitors with their ESS cooling system, air compressor, small solar street lights, and LED street light. In addition, companies from the Gyeongbuk area presented the opportunity to see various new and renewable energy technologies and products on top of PV with the exhibition by Hyuksin ENC, Sandong Metal Industries, and JDH with geothermal power products, small wind power generator, and hydrogen heat exchanger, respectively.
Shin Jong-wu from Duksan Cotran said, "We expect to see the growth of our thermo-hygrostat along with the increasing attention to the ESS issue." Jo Gyeong-yeon from HN Solar, the agency of SMA inverter, said, "I've never seen this many people in the show in five years. I was impressed that the people working in the industry visited during the week" and rooted for the continuous growth of the show. Seochang Electric Communication, the company that was developed by its watt hour meter, was recognized in the ESS area and had exhibited in the show three years ago with the support from the Daegu Metropolitan City and Nano Convergence Practical Application Center. This year, the company exhibited on its own, taking up four booths.
Visitor increase of 10.9% with overseas buyers with high buying power The 2019 International Green Energy Expo was visited by people who were seeking to identify and open up new markets in next-gen technologies and innovative solutions in PV, energy storage, and smart grid areas. As a result, a total of 32,500 visitors came to the show for three days, which is a 10.9% growth from last year. Particularly, more than 100 overseas buyers with real purchasing power have visited the show this year, proving that Green Energy Expo is a globally recognized exhibition and an important gateway to enter the Korean market. Two-thousand people representing electric works who had previously visited the Electric Works Expo 2019 hosted by the Korea Electrical Contractors Association visited on April 4, giving the effect of raising the level of the show.
To help Korean companies advance into the global market and increase export competitiveness of SMEs. KOTRA and EXCO hosted Overseas Buyers Invitation and Export Consultation on the first day of the show, April 3. Over 100 overseas buyers from 27 countries including the US, Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, India, and the Middle East with high buying power came to the export consultation. This is a 23% increase (81 companies in 2018) from the previous year.
This year's export consultation was conducted by 1:1 walk-in style where the overseas buyers visit the exhibition booths. This method was reviewed as directly contributing to generating profit and opening new sales path by increasing the possibility of successful deals.
To find 500MW PV power generation project partner, Salam Petroleum from Qatar, Vertex Solutions from India, and Mobilinfo from Morocco came to the show. A total of 391 consultations were made from this export consultation, and many companies are planning to have additional consultation and sign MOU, demonstrating that Green Energy Expo is contributing directly to the profit generation of exhibitors.
Sharing of market policy and development direction in 2019 International Green Energy Conference In this year's show, a variety of events including conference, seminar, and technology education took place.
In 2019 International Green Energy Conference, 60 global leaders in new and renewable energy from seven countries including Germany, China, Japan, Israel, and Malaysia were invited as guests and spoke about the global market, policy and technology trends, highlighting the present and the future of new and renewable energy.
Six-hundred people participated in this year's conference, which was divided into eight sessions in five areas, PV, hydrogen, fuel cell, secondary cell, and ESS. At 2019 PVMI&GGEITC, the PV conference, aquatic and agricultural PV were discussed under the theme PV System-Talk about Tomorrow. Particulary in this year, Hanwha Q Cell, SolarEdge, Solar Farm, Paru, and Scotra presented the vision of leading technology in their areas, drawing attention from the participants of the conference. Also, as the leader of agricultural PV area, speakers from Fraunhofer, Fukushima construction, and Korea Agricultural PV Association spoke about case studies and led the discussion.
On the other hand, led by the government's hydrogen economy roadmap, discussions on the development of the latest technologies for hydrogen and fuel cells, the trends of international standards, and the spread of hydrogen filling stations took place at the 2019 Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Forum. The conference on securing the safety of the alternative battery, the secondary battery and the ESS, was unexpectedly attended by many professionals and stakeholders, and the conference was held successfully.
The Innovation Program (New Product New Technology Presentation), the venue for seeing the information on innovative technology in one place, was held at the special stage on April 3 and 4. Twelve companies including Hanwha Q Cell, Shinsung E&G, Razzler, and Haezoom gave presentations this year, and this is three times more than the last year. They participated and fulfilled the demand of the visitors who have become more specialized over the years. This show was reviewed as giving a better opportunity to provide detailed information on the spot.
Most of the companies participating in the exhibition were happy about the fact that the show was big, the facilities were clean, there were lots of things to see, and there were many changes to meet overseas buyers, and they promised to exhibit next year. Especially, an official of Hanwha Q Cell expressed satisfaction with participating in the event, saying, "So many people rolled in that we had to make additional printings."
Kwon Young-jin, the Mayor of Daegu, said, "Many visitors came to the exhibition to find new opportunities in the midst of low growth globally, and Green Energy Expo provided an opportunity to find new breakthroughs by exchanging information on innovative products and technologies." He also added, "Green Energy Expo will contribute to the profit generation of exhibitors and we plan to do our best to quickly show the trend of the future energy industry and technology to the visitors." Many applications for the 2020 Green Energy Expo already rolled in, showing the high expectations for the next year's show. The 17th Green Energy Expo will be held in Daegu EXCO from April 1 to 3, 2020.
