The 11th "2018 International Green Car Exhibition" and "2018 Gwangju International IoT, Appliance, and Robot Fair" was started on the 5th.
Co-hosted by Venture Business Administration, KOTRA, Gwangju Institute of Green Car Advancement, Korea Automobile Parts Association, etc., this exhibition will introduce core advanced technologies that will lead the 4th industrial revolution such as autonomous vehicles, next generation low-pollution & ecofriendly vehicle, IoT smart home appliances, information and communications technologies,
The International Green Car Exhibition expanded the display of future low-pollution transport mean such as hydrogen (electric) cars and autonomous vehicles and ecofriendly application parts reflecting the policy keynote of Gwangju. Gwangju International IoT Robot Fair diversified the core items of 4th industrial revolution such as smart home appliances and IoT from the existing robot fair, participated by large companies in the region such as Samsung Electronics as well as the home appliance industries of Gwangju co-brand.
As an ecofriendly automobile exhibition that was held for the first time in Korea in 2008, International Green Car Exhibition was not only selected as a promising exhibition by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy but was also the only one to receive an international certificate by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI). This year had 350 booths by 250 companies from 25 countries around the world, participated directly by 30 foreign companies to display the main products of their countries or companies such as U.K. Automobile Manufacturing Trade Association (SMMT delegates), a French driverless vehicle company Navya, and Poland's electric motor production company Komel.
Various academic events are also held to discuss the present and the future of the automobile industry.
In International Conference on Advanced Automobile Technology (ICAT 2018) held with the theme 'EV (Electric Vehicle)er Green!', 13 speakers from Korea and 7 overseas countries will give presentations on the present and future policies and technologies of electric and autonomous vehicles. They include a keynote speech by Vice Present Jean-Marc Desvaux of Easy Mile, a company developing autonomous bus called EZ10, 'Future of Electric Energy and Automobile' (Team Head Tae-il Choi of KEPCO), 'Status & Strategy of Electric Vehicle Development by Hyundai Motor' (Part Head Chung Kim/Hyundai Motor), and 'Electric Automobiles in the Logistics Industry' (Koam Innovation/CEO Yo-seob Hong).
Gwangju co-brands are also noteworthy as the changes and innovative technologies of Gwangju can be seen at once. The exhibition will display Gwangju's co-brands developed through the collaboration of 18 excellent small and medium-sized companies that were selected during 2018, as well as finished products that have mixed individual brands of companies
As new IoT and ICT items are added, participation by young startups related to ICT technologies also draws attention. A main example is the ICT Promotion Hall of Daejeon Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency, which is organizing the project to activate Daejeon soft town. This joint hall will be attended by Daejeon's 15 promising IT companies. The innovative multi-projection system developed by KAI has already been commercialized and directly operated in various public institutions of Daejeon, due to its simple system and easy installation and management.
In addition, by carrying out global business export counseling sessions that invite 150 overseas buyers from 25 countries such as Russia, Japan, Jordan, Nigeria, etc., the exhibition will be a place for securing the overseas export channels of our products. Various business events will also be held, including 'The Briefing Session on Investment Environment in Thailand to seek Strategies for Global Overseas Market Expansion' (by the Board Investment of Thailand, at 7:30pm on July 5th in Holiday Inn), 'The European Union Market Investment Seminar (hosted by Trade Investment Promotion Agency of Czech/Portugal at 10am on July 5th in the 1st floor exhibition hall of Kim Dae-jung Convention Center), 'Korea-United Kingdom Automobile Market Network Meeting (The Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders in the U.K. (SMMT), and the Gwangju Institute of Green Car Advancement at 11:30am on July 6th in Rm. 201, Kim Dae-jung Convention Center).
An official of the Gwangju Metropolitan City, the hosting institution, said "We need a synergy effect by fostering automobile and IoT smart home appliance industries to secure the growth engine for the 4th industrial revolution in Gwangju. Our area is inhabited by many large companies such as KIA Motor, Samsung Electronics, Dayou, Autech Carrier, etc. as well as small and medium firms such as Gwangju co-brands. By fostering and holding the regional exhibition, we will strive to become a good example that presents the convergence and visions of related industries in the future".
