'Gyeongju Smart Media Center'(Chairman Nam, Yoon-Seok), a leader of Ecosystem Creation of Realistic Media Industry, will participate in MWC and in MWC, and display MPEG-V international standard system and solution.
'Gyeongju Smart Media Center', which is located in Gyeongju City's Bomun Complex, is a corporate institution established as a part of performance promotion project of realistic media, which is promoted by the Future Creation Science Department. It has equipments for experiencing space and realistic media transmission, reproduction and test such as test rooms for real surface image effect, realistic hologram contents, interactive realistic contents, circle vision realistic contents, etc, and also supports companies related to realistic media.
At this center, there are 6 companies entered in, which are A2TEK (develops software related to MPEG-V standard) / IMES (produces contents development and device) / 4 REAL (produces realistic media device) / elTOV (produces real display) / U2NG (produces software controller) / EDAMTREE (contents development and service), and each company is closely cooperating with the center and research group formation.
In the field of realistic media, it is important to compete with the global market and market trends that comply with technology trends, but industry ecosystem creation for all and not for monopolization by the few, and the leading of the market utilizing standard technology are also important.
'Gyeongju Smart Media Center' is developing realistic media contents based on MPEG-V standard and focusing on standardization business for fair trade of related industry. In addition, various programs that are beyond the existing indirect support are being carried out. It developed, for the first time in domestic, a portable experience-booth, through which general people can experience realistic media services, and displayed it at '2016 Silla Sound Festival Emille', 'Silk Road Gyeongju 2015'. It is also actively promoting a way to generate profits through teleporting booths.
In particular, through participating 'Mobile World Congress9MWC) 2017' this year, it will understand new technologies, policies and market trends of relevant industry, acquire technology and basic data, and use them to find new R&D.
'Gyeongju Smart Media Center' will spread the achievements of its affiliates to the global market through participation in MWC, and will enhance local brand power and strengthen local industry competitiveness through strengthening competitiveness of domestic companies and creating new services, as well as promoting rich cultural contents within the region.
Furthermore, by displaying and promoting teleporting booths operated by the center and authoring tools of realistic media, it will promote direct performance and profit creation.
The major programs of 'Gyeongju Smart Media Center' participating in 'MWC 2017' are as follows.
▲(registered as a UNESCO World Heritage) Local cultural assets linked virtual reality Gyeongju experience.
▲Media version of realistic media authoring tool (REAL 4D Studio Media) that can author ten kinds of sensory effectss defined in MPEG-V standard for various media(4K UHD, 360VR, AR, animation, etc).
▲Event version of realistic media authoring tool (REAL 4D Studio Event) that can author 10 kinds of sensory effectss defined in MPEG-V standard for various software (games, mobile apps, realistic software, etc)
▲Open-type teleporting (experience booth) system, which is a system that is portable and allows two people to enjoy realistic media of virtual reality interaction at the same time
Nam, Yoon-Seok, the chairman of 'Gyeongju Smart Media Center' said, "Through the participation of MWC, we will advertise the center of MPEG-V international standard system and platform, and the center, which has technologies and test environments, will support companies in cooperation research."
* MPEG-V (Moving Picture Experts Group-Virtual Worlds) : It is an interface standard that links the real world with the virtual world, and the virtual world with another virtual world which are developed by MPEG. The official name is ISO/ IEC 23005. To maximize the sensory effects of media, it adopted RoSE technology, enables to transfer information from virtual world to real world. In addition to the audiovisual effects provided by A/V media, RoSE technology maximizes the sensory effects of media by linking sensory effects such as wind, scent, and vibration to various devices such as fan and vibrating chair (IT terminology dictionary, Korea Information and Communication Technology Association).
