An organization for Culture day (www.culture.go.kr) showcased various events at "EDUCARE & KIDSFAIR (hereafter COEX EDUCARE)", which ran for four days from Thursday the 10th to Sunday the 13th at COEX in Seoul.
Culture day was first started on January 29, 2014. The Presidential Committee for Cultural Enrichment and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism have been holding a variety of events, including free admissions to museums and palaces, on the last Wednesday of each month.
On Culture day, national and public libraries are open at night, and various cultural programs are held. In addition, the four palaces -- Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Deoksugung, and Changgyeonggung -- Jongmyo Shrine, and the royal tombs of the Joseon Dynasty are open to the public for free.
Furthermore, people can receive special discounts on their movie tickets (notice that not all movie theaters provide discounts) and professional basketball and volleyball game tickets, when parents and their children (under elementary school age) watch a game together.
There are free performances at national theaters and the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts. Major performance facilities, including Chongdong Theater and Seoul Arts Center, provide discounts. However, people should first check the amount of discounts at each facility, and whether it participates in Culture day.
At this EDUCARE, the organization for Culture day showcased various games that parents and children could enjoy together, including Yut and a traditional ball game. It also ran an event that provided emoticons to the first 100,000 people, if they add the Culture day page as a Plus Friend on Kakao Talk.
EDUCARE & KIDSFAIR is the largest exhibition for children in the country. Various domestic and international products, contents, seminars, and experience classes from famous brands are being offered in one place. At this exhibition, SNS is actively utilized through a special Kakao Talk event, and there are plenty of other conveniences for visitors. The event provides the best sights and sounds for those who are interested in childhood education.
