
SEOUL, Korea (AVING) -- <Visual News> On 27th July, Korea Mobile Broadcasting (CEO: Han-Ku Kang) announced that it finalize its agreements with Finland's UPCODE LTD (CEO: Sture Udd. Finland), and launch a unified platform in 53 countries.
UPCODE is a world-leading company in mobile applications which utilize 2D barcode technology, and with their technology receiving much praise from numerous countries, they have commercialized their services in 53 countries, including USA and many European countries.
Most notable is how UPCODE's technology is installed in every mobile phone produced by Nokia, the company with more than 60% share of the mobile phone manufacture and sales market, as well as the OS (symbian) market.
Nokia, along with their acquisition of media companies, bought all shares of Symbian last year, and created a Symbian foundation with the participation of Samsung, LG, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, NTT DoKoMo, Texas Instruments and AT &T, in a step towards wireless internet businesses and making Symbian OS a "royalty-free" platform.
UPCODE is also used by China Mobile, a Chinese mobile telecommunications company with the largest number of subscribers in the world, and they are also driving forward new global mobile businesses through strategic cooperation with on/off-line companies.
Korea Mobile Broadcasting has held business presentations in November and December 2008 for Nokia Asia Pacific, China Mobile, the Revenco Group and other Chinese companies in Peking, China, upon invitation from Chinese mobile companies and the media. Their unified platform, MYKEY, was shown on numerous occasions on Chinese TV and internet portals.
The new open-type unified mobile platform, the creation of Korean and European technology, can be used by 'any mobile phone (smart phones and WAPs), regardless of mobile environment and phone manufacturer, and has unlimited potential through incorporation of barcode, home-network systems, telemetics and many more applications.
One of the main features of the open-type mobile platform is the application of a "2D Barcode System" which allows wireless internet access anytime, anywhere, and a "Mobile Address Search Engine" which allows fast search and site access identical to the web.
It also comes with "Mobile Payback Advertising System", a new concept which will lead to a great reduction in price for, or free, wireless communications and internet access, and "user-based cable/wireless personal portals" for mobile users worldwide.
The user-based personal portals will allow a user-friendly flash-light based "contents market-place", as programs and contents provided by individuals and companies, together with the news, games, shopping, finance and portal sites frequently used by the users can be uploaded into their phones at any time.
UPCODE CEO Sture Udd, after visiting Korea for 4 days to inspect the mobile market, said of the agreement with Korea Mobile Broadcasting, "This will be a great opportunity to unify and to develop the global wireless internet environment," and that "the service will supplied in 53 countries through their channels, Nokia and other telecommunications companies."
